This vacancy is being announced as a Classified position and may be filled as a Probationary appointment or Promotional appointment .No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
40% Monitor the Telephone CPR Program as mandated in Act 578 of the 2018 Regular Session, provide assistance to various 911 call centers and dispatch services where T-CPR must be implemented. Collaborate with local jurisdictional leaders of the communications districts or agencies providing public safe communication services to determine the unique emergency medical call taking needs of each parish and how the mandates of Action 578 can be met.
30% Monitor the Ambulance Operator Certification Program as mandated in Act 644 of the 2022 Regular Session. Assist applicants with navigating the certification process, process applications in a timely manner and verify that Ambulance Operators do attempt to obtain a certification renewal as this is prohibited by law.
28% Coordinate and facilitate the submission of criminal background documents. Review all federal and state criminal history reports received from Louisiana State Police and accurately update the appropriate accounts in the Information Management System. Relative to applications in which the affirmative criminal background was disclosed, ensure that all required documents are received and complete before moving the application forward to the EMS Certification Commission. Relative to applications in which the affirmative criminal background was not disclosed, return the application to the applicants notifying them of the need to update the applications and then ensure that all required documents are received and complete before moving the application forward to the EMS Certification Commission.
2% - Other
  • Respond during emergency disaster events and provide ambulance placarding at the site to credential ambulances during a disaster.
  • Provide assistance to the Tactical Operations Center as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Bureau of EMS Director and/or the Bureau of EMS Deputy Director.
COMMENTS
  • Flex-time may be required during a 40-hour work week which may include events and weekends.
  • Additional hours may be required in the event of a disaster or scheduled event.
  • Travel may be required to attend job-specific meetings, workshops and/or conferences.

Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree plus two years of professional level experience in administrative services, economics, public health, public relations, social services, health services, or surveying and/or assessing health or social service programs or facilities for compliance with state and federal regulations.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.
Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:
A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
Graduate training with eighteen semester hours in one or any combination of the following fields will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience: public health; counseling; social work; psychology; rehabilitation services; statistics; experimental/applied statistics; economics; business, public, or health administration.
A Juris Doctorate will substitute for one year of the required experience.
A master's degree in public health; counseling; social work; psychology; rehabilitation services; economics; business, public, or health administration will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Graduate training with less than a Ph.D. will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
A Ph.D. in public health; counseling; social work; psychology; rehabilitation services; economics; business, public, or health administration will substitute for the two years of required experience.
NOTES:
Health services include all services dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of disease, or the promotion, maintenance and restoration of health for sick or injured individuals.
Public health includes jobs such as sanitarian, public health engineer and public health epidemiologist.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
