Job Description:
Associate Director, Employer Development & Relations
Louisiana State University invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Employer Relations and Development within the LSU Career Center (OCC). Reporting to the Senior Director, this position serves on the leadership team of LSU Olinde Career Center and has primary responsibility for all employer relations and the outreach strategy for the office. The Associate Director, Employer Development and Relations plays a critical role in managing the execution of the university career services function.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
  • Leads the Employment Development and Relations team in strategically identifying, cultivating, strengthening, and evaluating employer relationships to maximize student career opportunities.
  • Directly supervises the Manager of Events, Manager of Employer Development, and On Campus Recruiting Coordinator to provide comprehensive services to employers looking to recruit talent through LSU.

ABOUT THE DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS PRIORITIES:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resource Management (30%)
Accountable for executing objectives and key results for Employer Development and Relations functions. Recommends personnel actions to the department head and communicates personnel actions to direct reports. Assists in measuring and reporting key results relating to employer engagement and student impact metrics. Oversee the management of the employer core database, yearly outreach strategy, and recruitment offerings. Leverages the talents of the staff and assets of the office to meet student needs based on routine analysis of engagement data, student needs assessments and the natural cycle of the academic calendar.
Direct Support to Constituents (25%)
Translates department initiatives and goals to employers, faculty and staff through the creation of resources, services, events, and experiences. Identify and build relationships with state, regional, national, and international employers for recruitment of LSU students. Collaborate with college liaisons and faculty/staff to increase employment opportunities for students. Provides consultation services, support and troubleshooting, from a "yes" first mindset, to employers, students, and campus partners. Work with employers to develop marketing strategies for enhancement of employer presence; manage employer expectations; promote ethical standards.
Leadership and Administration (20%)
Assists the Senior Director in the translation and execution of the Olinde Career Center's strategic vision for an intentional and integrated career education experience for all students with primary responsibility for employer engagement. Serve on the leadership team of the LSU Olinde Career Center providing assistance in the strategic planning, goal setting and staff development of the entire team. As a member of leadership team, works collaboratively and proactively with other leadership team members, managers, and staff to implement & execute career center vision and goals- solving problems & mitigating road blocks as they arise. Directly supervises the Manager of Events, Manager of Employer Development, and On Campus Recruiting Coordinator to provide comprehensive services to employers looking to recruit talent through LSU. Provides leadership and support to all employer development and relations staff members in strategically identifying, cultivating, strengthening, and evaluating employer relationships to maximize student career opportunities. Demonstrates divisional attitudes and priorities in all aspects of work.
Quality Control (20%)
Ensures Employer Development and Relations outputs including [human resource decisions, administrative tasks, programs/services/events/experiences, and all communication] exudes a high degree of quality. Conduct on-going assessment of the employer relations efforts and provide feedback as to the effectiveness of such efforts and appropriate solutions to mitigate issues and increase effectiveness. Empower the team to think creatively to implement strategic initiatives to meet the needs of LSU's growing and evolving student population, specifically in the areas of inclusion and access for first generation and historically under-represented students. Embraces and executes the marginal gains approach and seeks to improve the level of all services, events, programs, and experiences in department for continuous improvement every academic year.
Other Duties As Assigned (5%)
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director. This includes but is not limited to: efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Disability Services Finals Testing, other special projects, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Minimum of five year of professional work experience
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree in higher education administration, public administration, business or a closely related field
  • Five years experience
  • Experience leading and managing a team to accomplish yearly goals
  • Experience working with employers in a university career services office
OTHER REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS:
As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
