Job Description
The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for effectively working with Clinical Department Manager, Lead Provider and Office Manager in order to provide health care and administrative services to individuals and families in an outpatient primary care environment. The Lead Medical Assistant will work together with the Department Manager to assume responsibility for the management, provision, patient age appropriate competencies and evaluation of medical assistants in their central area of assignment. Assist with telephone and face to face patient communications, physical exams, point of care lab testing and patient education. The Lead Medical Assistant will respond to patient needs and assures health care services for patients and families are reflective of Lowell Community Health Center mission and values. Incumbent works as part of the Medical Assistant team and assists in the continuity of health care for patients.
Under the direction of the department manager, the Lead MA will supervise Medical Assistants in day-to day activities. Will orient, teach, monitor and conduct periodic competencies to all Medical Assistants. Will perform MA function as needed. Work with Office and Department Manager to oversee and manage efficient patient flow. Work with Department Manager to facilitate the resolution of staff grievances/complaints following Lowell CHC guidelines and policies where required. Functions as a patient advocate and communicates warmth and understanding to the patient and their families. Work with Providers in order to meet or exceed minimum threshold requirements in all core clinical measures within established clinical guidelines.
Qualifications
The Lead MA will have a high school diploma or equivalent. Lead MA will also hold a certificate noting successful completion of a formal MA training program with state certification. Must have two to three years of Medical Assisting experience, preferably in an outpatient setting. Supervisory experience preferred but not required. Experience with an electronic medical record system highly preferred. Current CPR certificate required.
