The LCRA Safety Team supports the Telecom business is looking for their next teammate who is ready to contribute to our growing team and provide a full range of safety and health support to our telecommunications personnel and operations. We have a brand new opening for a Utility Safety Specialist that understands how to positively engage with all levels of employees at multiple locations throughout central Texas and beyond. As our Safety Team grows, our ideal candidate will have the opportunity to apply new industry best practices and provide meaningful input regarding programs and policies. You will be trusted to:

  • Provide safety consultation and serve as a safety and health resource for LCRA staff in Telecom.
  • Participate in the research, development, and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with incident investigations, tracking, and reporting.
  • Schedule and assist with conducting safety orientations, safety training, health training and monthly / quarterly safety meetings.
  • Assist with safety and health inspections and audits.
  • Assist staff with project support related to health and safety issues.
  • Prepare health and safety plans for LCRA projects.
  • Coordinate medical monitoring activities and schedule employees for testing.
  • Provide daily on-site safety support with a strong interpersonal skills to engage with people.
  • Travel to work sites to engage with partners and support other Generation operations.
  • Support base of operations and management teams at the LCRA Service Center in Austin.

You qualify with:

  • Six or more years of experience in telecommunications utility safety or other relevant experience. Experience must include one or more years of experience with ANSI, OSHA 1910.268 and IEEE C95.6-2002 standards and applicable telecommunications work practices and safety policies. A degree(s) in telecommunications, occupational safety and health, or related field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver’s license

You are a great fit with:

  • Bachelors degree or greater in Occupational Safety & Health or similar.
  • Certification(s) in the field of Safety & Health such as the ASP, CSP, or OHST.
  • Experience in at least one of the following fields: telecommunications, power generation, transmission, or construction.
