Loyal Source is Hiring a Registered Nurse - Cardiac Catheterization Near Palo Alto, CA

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing
  • Current full active and unrestricted professional RN license
  • Current BLS (AHA or ARC)
  • Current ACLS (AHA or ARC)
  • One year critical care experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years within the past three (3) years of cardiac catheterization laboratory experience including demonstrated competence and excellence in advanced nursing skills, ECG monitoring skills, hemodynamics, and performance in emergency situations, patient teaching, and patient/family communication.

Duties: provide cardiac catheterization, transaortic valve replacement, and electrophysiology procedure services on site in accordance with specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) located at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.

  • 95% of the time involved in direct patient care. The cardiac catheterization RN will participate as an integral team member to the multi-disciplinary cardiac catheterization team. The contract personnel shall perform the following and remain within their scope of practice/privilege at all times.
  • Circulate, assist, and operate equipment with all of the various cardiac catheterization, transaortic valve replacement, and electrophysiology procedures and echocardiography lab procedures.
  • Monitor patients during the procedures, including continuous ECG and hemodynamic monitoring, identification of cardiac arrhythmias, and response to medications and treatments.
  • Document patient information during the procedure in CPRS and maintain the procedure prolog in MacLab.
  • Administer medications, including ACLS medications and anticoagulants, including moderate sedation with appropriate patient monitoring, assessment, and documentation.
  • Be able to operate complex radiographic, angiographic, and digital recording equipment while maintain radiation safety principles.
  • Conduct quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Monitor patient status prior to, during, and post procedure.
  • Transport patients post-procedure.
  • Provide necessary support to the physicians during all procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of all cardiac catheterization laboratory and hybrid operating room equipment.
