About the Role:

LS Power is seeking a Transmission Regulatory Policy Manager to serve a key role in interfacing with RTOs/ISOs as well as federal, regional, and state regulatory agencies for the companys growing electrical transmission business. This position will have a primary focus on the MISO and SPP regions. The Transmission Regulatory Manager is a high visibility position within and external to the organization. The Transmission Regulatory Policy Manager will interface with various other departments in the organization including Asset Management, Business Development, Transmission Planning, Operations, and more. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and growing organization.

Responsibilities:

What you will do:

  • Responsibilities will include (among others) advocacy for competitive and transparent regional transmission planning processes, monitor and analyze federal and state regulatory filings, summarize and report relevant information to internal decision-makers, cultivate relationships with RTO/ISO staff and stakeholders.
  • Advance company transmission policy interests through RTO/ISO stakeholder processes and federal and state regulatory proceedings. Includes in written filings and other formal and informal communications. Experience in one or more RTO/ISO stakeholder processes preferred.
  • Provide regulatory support to asset management function including operating utility compliance in MISO. Work with other company employees related to transmission planning, operations and regulatory policy to establish and advocate company positions.
  • Follow matters at state regulator groups as they relate to transmission utilities. Follow matters at state legislatures and guide lobbyist(s) as necessary as they relate to transmission utilities in the regions.
Qualifications:

  • Hold a college degree in related field, advanced degree preferred.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of related professional experience.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have industry and FERC knowledge and experience particularly with one or more RTO/ISO areas.
  • Are a self-starter and able to function effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Are able to multi-task and effectively manage multiple assignments occasionally under time constraints
  • Strong decision making skills.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex issues in preparing briefs and other documents.
  • Are comfortable with frequent travel
