About the Role:We currently have an opportunity for a Compliance Director (Title commensurate based on experience) to support the LS Power group of Generation Assets in multiple markets nationwide. In this role, you will develop, implement, shape, guide, and lead the fleet-wide reliability compliance program for both NERC and each assets associated RTO/ISO, with support from subject matter experts, other members of the compliance team, including the Chief Compliance Officer, and consultants as required. You will work with each asset’s operations and maintenance (O&M) team and 3 rd party NERC CIP team to document compliance policies and procedures and maintain associated evidence. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable NERC standards and RTO/ISO requirements including Generation Owner, Generation Operator, and Critical Infrastructure Protection standards for LS Power’s generation assets in ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SERC, ISONE, NYISO, WECC, CAISO and additional RTO/ISOs as the company continues to expand.

Responsibilities What you will do:
- Support the development and establish a corporate-wide compliance program across LS Power’s Generation assets in numerous NERC Regions.
- Control and manage all regulatory and generation policies and procedures, including reports and work logs used for compliance evidence.
- Establish and maintain relationships with Key Stakeholders with NERC and the Generation Asset’s Regional Entity and its RTO/ISO. Establish and maintain relationship with industry peers.
- Support the company compliance program for generation assets within all NERC regions, and comply with all NERC, RTO/ISO, and FERC periodic reporting requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable RTO/ISO business practice requirements, NERC Reliability Standards, and NERC Rules of Procedure related to registration, certification, and compliance.
- Support regulatory compliance procedure updates and departmental reviews as requested.
- Support, guide, and oversee internal and external audits, mock audits, and self-certifications.
- Assist in the development of training materials in various aspects of the compliance program.
- Prepare filings, policies, procedures and other documentation in support of the compliance functions. Lead compliance meetings.
- Administer and maintain compliance monitoring and tracking software.
- Monitor costs associated with compliance and develop and manage compliance budget.
- Attend RTO and Regional NERC meetings, participate in committee meetings, and attend national and regional conferences.
- Manage any self-report and violation mitigation efforts in a swift and effective manner.
- Work closely with internal and external IT/OT and EMS departments to ensure Cyber & CIP compliance.
- Work closely with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) personnel to ensure compliance
- Hold a Bachelor and/or Masters of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or other relevant degree preferred.
- Have a minimum of 7 year’s direct experience in a similar role.
- Are familiar with all applicable NERC standards, including Generation Owner, Generation Operator, and Critical Infrastructure Protection standards.
- Have previous experience and/or knowledge with NERC compliance in utility operations, ideally with PJM.
- Have experience and/or knowledge with Regional Entities, ideally with Reliability First.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and problem solving skills.
- Can set priorities, follow-through, and respond to changes in a dynamic environment.
- Are able to multitask and effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
- Have strong negotiation, persuasion, and listening skills.
- Are able to understand and communicate with a diverse audience across all levels of the organization.
- Have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedures involving complex and technical information.
- Have strong competencies in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook). Previous experience with compliance, work management, budgeting and/or accounting software is a plus.
- Are able to respond to issues outside of normal working hours and flexibility to travel as required.
- Have good communication, organization, critical thinking and knowledge of NERC Standards including Cyber and Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards.
- Have knowledge and understanding of utility business principles, and utility operations & maintenance will be an advantage.
- NERC Compliance experience and/or knowledge with ISONE, NYISO, and ERCOT.
- Cyber security knowledge and experience.
