General Summary:

Responsible for direct supervision of the CAD design & drafting staff. Organizes project and task workloads and selects individuals most qualified for assignments on specific projects.

Typically manages the day-to-day workflow of subordinate workers. Acts as primary liaison between the Drafting staff and other functional groups and resolves any escalated issues.

Responsible for the employment, training, and discipline of assigned employees. Will also be responsible for the development of Technical Data Packages as defined in the Statement of Work (S64,00OW).

Salary range: $64,000- $77,000

Essential Job Functions:

• Creates and maintains drafting standards in accordance with ASME, MIL-STD-31000, and other prescribed formats. Creates and maintains other company processes, as required.
• Coaches drafting team to clarify completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, accuracy of calculations and dimensions.
• Creates Technical Data Packages (TDPs), in accordance with ASME and MIL-STD- 31000 or other prescribed format, that consist of product drawings and associated lists necessary for internal and external customers.
• Identifies drafting or design work to be standardized for the components or systems most appropriate to standardized design
• Ensures that all drawings proceed through the PDM workflow
• Will serve as the drafting liaison for all Physical Control Audits (PCA).
• Must be capable of safely handling government furnished equipment and materials.
• Must be available to work a standard weekly schedule with overtime as required.
• Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge. Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage and lead a team of CAD drafters and checkers; providing goals, direction, daily tasking and recurring feedback to team members.
• Ability to analyze and interpret instructions and standards and develop work instructions.
• Must be proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
• Must have strong design and conceptual aptitude.
• Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere.
• Ability to communicate technical issues verbally and in writing

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent plus six (6) years related work experience in CAD design and drafting, or
• Associate's Degree in CAD or Drafting studies, plus four (4) years’ related work experience.
• Knowledge of applicable MIL-SPEC/STD's preferred.
• Experience with documentation control, data management, prefer Solidworks EPDM.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD (electrical and mechanical drafting).
• Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks (mechanical design and drafting).
• Working knowledge of CAM software, machining, sheet-metal and waterjet.
