Yard/Shop Laborer Job Description

1.0 POSITION SUMMARY

The Yard/Shop Laborer is responsible to complete tasks in accordance with management or customer needs. While conducting safe work practices and producing quality work. Working collaboratively towards the common goal of profitability for LTJ Industrial Services LLC.

2.0 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

· The Yard manger reports to the Foreman.

3.0 REQUIREMENTS

3.1.

· Required: None

· Preferred: High School Diploma or GED

3.2.

· Required: Valid Driver’s License

· Preferred: OSHA 10, Rigging

3.3.

· Required: 1 years’ experience in operating forklifts

· Preferred: 5 years’ experience in operating forklifts

3.4.

· Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.

· Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

· A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements in processes.

· Maintaining cooperative working relationships with all staff members.

· Demonstrating ability to tactfully handle difficult situations.

· Performing all duties in an independent manner with little supervision.

· Not taking excessive and unscheduled time off.

· Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence

· Assuming responsibility for staying aware of changes in company policies and procedures.

· Maintaining a well-groomed, professional appearance, appropriate for the position and situation.

· Maintaining neat and orderly work areas and company vehicles.

· A positive attitude, even when faced with misplaced criticism or frustration.

· The ability to learn quickly and move on from both success and failure.

· Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.

· Excellent knowledge of welding/fabrication skills and material uses.

· Body Positions: Sitting and standing for 10 hours a day.

· Body Movements: Walking, climbing, and bending. Must be able to walk through construction sites and work around heavy equipment.

· Strength: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at waist and more weight with help.

3.6.

· Mathematical: Basic math skills around measuring and geometry is required and advanced math is preferred.

· Language: English speaking is required, and Bilingual in Spanish is preferred

· Mechanical: Basic mechanical knowledge is required.

4.0 WORKING CONDITIONS

· Climate: Workshop is ventilated but not climate controlled so it may get both hot and cold depending on the season; Vehicles are climate controlled, outside you will be regularly exposed to hot, dusty, cold, and/or wet weather conditions.

· Hours: This job is 40 hours a week during hours of operation.

5.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Unload and load all material and projects.

· Upkeep of all materials in the yard.

· Organize all projects in the yard.

· Check in, inspect & document all incoming material.

6.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

· Produce quality work.

· Follow safe work practices.

7.0 DUTIES AND TASKS

· Maintain equipment.

· Operate equipment.

· Recommend measures to improve productivity and quality of product.

· Maintain timekeeping records.

· Perform additional tasks when needed by ownership i.e., paint, sand blast, and hydrostatic testing.

8.0 MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE

· Organization of the yard.

· Meeting deadlines on project.

· Minimize rework and wasted materials on projects.

· Maintain a safe work environment for the business and team members.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
