Minimal Acceptable Position QualificationsEducation: Completion of a recognized School of Radiology
Experience: MRI experience preferred.
Licenses: Licensed by the state of Indiana as a Radiologic Technologist.
Certifications/RegistrationsMust have an ARRT certification in MRI within 2 years of date of hire.
Current BLS CPR certification and maintain bi-annually.
Knowledge/Skills & AbilitiesTo assure emotional, mental and physical well-being of each guest, the tech must use judgment based on verbal and written communication, evaluation, and summarize of each individual person. Initially question patient symptoms, communicate this to radiologist, perform the procedure and follow through completely with patient’s release. Must be able to utilize current IT and PACS system for results.
Position Specific Essential Job Functions
- Performs complex MRI images utilizing department protocols. Utilizes immobilization and supportive devices to obtain proper positioning of patient for prevention of patient motion during scanning procedure..
- Responsible for daily equipment checks, QA, repairs and PM’s. Reports any need for repairs to field engineers, and follows through with their repair and completion.
- Responsible for protecting patients/customers from the Magnetic field, and protecting the magnet from the environment.
- Demonstrates competency in choosing and adjusting technical scan parameters and protocols without the direct supervision of the Radiologist.
- Demonstrates working knowledge and performs as needed, all aspects of the front office, including full registration process, faxing, printing, proper phone etiquette, scheduling and applying accurate charges.
- Evaluates patient’s condition and history: informs radiologist of any possible contraindications in the administration of contrast. Explains exams thoroughly and responds to any question of the patient.
- Assist in non-radiologic duties within the department in a teamwork and positive fashion. Helps other modalities in the department as required. Is flexible in his/her work schedule, adjusts hours to meet the daily workload. Takes rotating call and fills in to meet department and fellow technologists’ needs.
- Guides, directs and works with students on a rotating basis. Instructs, critiques and educates as part of the daily environment.
- Serves to appropriately utilize hospital resources by demonstrating appropriate time utilization and productivity of testing procedures, equipment and supplies Oversees daily management of the office/procedures in absence of any managerial staff, keeping schedule timely, addressing customer service concerns as they arise, following up on any problems in the unit, and assuring patient care is conducted in an appropriate, educating manner.
- Demonstrates population served appropriate competency and knowledge, displays ability to perform skills specific to the patient population identified in unit specific skill list including but not limited to the following ages:

- Participates in Performance Improvement projects as needed representing the Radiology department.
- Adheres to radiology and specifically MRI policies and procedures at all times.
