Lutheran Homes Inc is Hiring a Philanthropy Manager Near Fort Wayne, IN

  1. Achieve a comprehensive understanding of LLV’s mission, vision, values and culture to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to donors and prospects.
  2. Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward relationships with prospects and current select supporters, developing a pipeline among supporters that link their passion for LLV to increased philanthropic support.
  3. Help grow a planned giving marketing plan to cultivate planned giving donors and prospects. Maintain the planned giving program creating a stewardship plan to ongoing relationships with donors who have made planned giving commitments.
  4. Help grow a grant program to cultivate funders and prospects. Maintain the grant program creating a stewardship plan to ongoing relationships with funders who have made commitments.
  5. Collaborate with marketing, business and operation departments to ensure compelling messaging and consistent donation management.
  6. Set performance goals for assessment, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Then, meet or exceed annual metrics.
  7. Record and manage activity and update information in Raiser’s Edge NXT (donor database). Produce activity reports as needed.
  8. Steward and give gratitude to donors showing impact of their contributions.
  9. Join and attend professional groups and educational sessions as needed; keep abreast of current trends.
  10. Champion philanthropy across LLV and share experience and ideas to meet overall department goals to grow the philanthropy pipeline.
  11. Support the Director of Philanthropy and sales/marketing team as required beyond just fundraising and sales events and initiatives.

Job Qualifications

  1. Education/Training
    1. Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  2. Experience
    1. Experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, or relationship management.
    2. Or any combination of education and experience equivalent.
  3. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of LLV.
  • Passion for senior care, nonprofit leadership and building relationships.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, collegiality, empathy, curiosity, determination, initiative and sound judgement.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong attention to detail and accuracy. Comfortable reaching out to people by phone as well as in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and inspire and motivate donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Familiarity with fundraising mechanics such as the donor management cycle of identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship.
  • Willingness to travel and spend much of work time in prospect/donor engagement.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to prioritize work and reassess in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to promote and maintain a positive work environment.

Equipment

  • Computer knowledge in Excel, Word, Outlook and other database applications. Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT database a plus.
