DescriptionLSSI is hiring a full-time Director of Communications and Advancement position. Responsible for coordinating and producing collateral materials, including writing and interviewing, and working with outside vendors (designers, videographers, photographers, etc.) project management, web content development, and media relations.

- Handle all aspects of assigned LSSI communications projects, including writing and collaborating with program staff, clients, and donors (i.e., quarterly newsletter, eblasts, collateral materials, web content, advancement projects, select media relations projects).
- Serve as primary communications contact for web projects and updates. Participate in web development and web governance meetings. Working with Information Systems/Web Governance and web development vendor, create content and manager user acceptance testing for web various web pages.
- Serve as primary contact with communications staff at the three Illinois Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) to create awareness for LSSI programs within various Synod communications pieces.
- Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individual in a dignified, respectful, honest and fair manner.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field required.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a communication role required.
- Experience working with not-for-profit organizations preferred.
- Background check clearance required.
- Demonstrated writing and editing (accuracy, attention to detail) required.
- Demonstrated ability writing for a variety of media and audiences utilizing different voices required.
- Experience managing projects from conception through completion, with program staff, graphic designers, printers, photographers, and videographers as well as creating and managing content with minimal direction under deadline constraints required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, organization, presentation and pc/computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with other related software.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, in good standing for the state of residency required.
- Access to reliable transportation required.
- Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury and property damage required.
