POSITION SUMMARY The Network/Hardware Support Specialist works onsite to administer and oversee the implementation, organization, and troubleshooting of the network, hardware, and underlying communications protocols of the Luxemburg-Casco School District. Additional tasks will include the day-to-day support of classroom hardware and software.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Regularly apply security updates to Windows Server operating system, switches, wireless network, and firewall
● Establish networking environment by installing, configuring, testing, and documenting the equipment/network systems according to the design and specifications
● Lead the performance of day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability, and serviceability with minimal interruption
● Lead network technology upgrade or expansion projects, including installation of hardware, software, and integration testing, as well as coordinating these activities without disrupting function of other systems
● Demonstrate strong working knowledge of the following products:
○ Microsoft Windows Server Operating System
○ Microsoft Active Directory
○ Aruba Network Switches
○ Shoretel Voice Over IP Telephone System
○ Aruba Wireless Networking
○ Fortinet Firewalls
○ Current Version of Microsoft Windows
○ VMWare
○ Experience with WAN/LAN Technologies
● Set-up, install, and maintain district computer systems
● Perform repair of computer hardware, printers, and peripherals
● Coordinate the annual imaging and preparation of district computer equipment
● Provide input as needed for school technology planning and network operation
● Work with IT staff members to identify and resolve network/hardware/software issues
● Demonstrate motivation to learn new technology/products
● Demonstrate strong communication and teambuilding skills along with an attention to detail
● Perform duties as assigned and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
● Work with various district staff members on deadline-driven projects
● Research and resolve issues in a timely manner
● Assist with preparations for state-mandated online achievement testing
● Handle confidential matters in an ethical manner
● Supervise and mentor Youth Apprentices for IT employed by the District (1-2 students per year)
● Demonstrate sound organizational skills and an ability to recognize and change work priorities in a timely fashion
● Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings
● Create documentation/procedures for the implementation of new or updated software/hardware
● Participate in team meetings, projects, and professional development
● Perform additional duties and assignments as requested
