Minimum Position Qualifications:
Academic Rank: Instructor
- Education - Bachelor's degree from an academic institution accredited by and institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of education (USDE); a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license.
- Experience - Two (2) years teaching experience either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs; and four (4) years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years experience in clinical respiratory care.
- Skills - Demonstrated proficiency in teaching and supervising respiratory therapy students in both clinical and didactic settings; demonstrated curriculum development ability and knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements; demonstrated communication skills both oral and written and conflict resolution skills; organizational and time management skills; ability to use online educational platforms (e.g. Blackboard) and computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.); demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
- Education - Master's degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of education (USDE) with three (3) years teaching experience either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs; and four (4) years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years experience in clinical respiratory care; - or - a Bachelor's degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of education (USDE) with eight (8) years teaching experience either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs; and four (4) years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years experience in clinical respiratory care; a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license.

Classroom, campus laboratory/simulation and clinical teaching, as assigned; in collaboration with the program director, responsible for preparation, curriculum development and instruction in theory, campus lab, and clinical settings; organizes, directs, oversees, coordinates, and evaluates the effectiveness of the clinical education component of the respiratory therapy program curriculum; establishes procedures and guidelines for clinical education and evaluation; schedules and coordinates student activities with the clinical affiliates; serves as a liaison between the Program and the clinical affiliates to ensure relevancy and quality of students' learning experiences and effectiveness of their evaluation; assists clinical affiliate education coordinators and instructors/supervisors in planning student learning experiences; work cooperatively with clinical supervisors in student instruction, supervision, and evaluation; coordinates student evaluation and progress decisions by maintaining records of Clinical Council proceedings and implementing its decisions; evaluates the contribution and effectiveness of the Programs clinical affiliates in regard to Program needs and accreditation standards; provides appropriate instruction and supervision and assures proper coverage of all assigned didactic, laboratory, and clinical learning activities. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Entry Salary: Instructor - $48,168/Assistant Professor - $52,925Standard Work Week: 35 hours
