Position Title: Underground Utility/Pipe Superintendent
Location: Portland, OR
Salary: $140,000- $180,000 Bonus(s)
Employment Type: Full-Time Employee

Job Summary:

This leading general contractor is seeking a skilled and experienced Underground Utility/Pipe Superintendent to oversee the installation and maintenance of underground utility systems and piping for their construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing underground utility projects, excellent leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of industry standards and safety regulations. This role is crucial for ensuring the successful execution of projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate all activities related to the installation and maintenance of underground utilities and piping systems, including water, sewer, storm drains, and other infrastructure.
  • Manage daily operations on job sites, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Oversee and direct field crews, subcontractors, and equipment, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, construction codes, and company policies.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure accurate execution and timely completion of work.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve any problems and ensure project requirements are met.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, work logs, and safety records.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of materials and equipment required for the projects.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork and effective communication among all project personnel.

Experience Needed:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in supervising underground utility and piping projects, including experience with water, sewer, storm drains, and related systems.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong understanding of underground utility installation methods, materials, and industry regulations.
  • Experience in managing field crews and coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Familiarity with construction safety practices and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications Needed:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in construction or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA certification, Heavy Equipment Operator License) are a plus.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and familiarity with project management software.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites within the Portland, OR area.
