The Lyceum Kennedy French American School provides a bilingual, well-rounded education for its students from preschool through 12th grade. We are looking for a part-time Teacher Assistant to join our team in August 2024 in our Preschool, 2.5 days a week (2 full days and 1/2 a day). The ideal candidate possesses a balance of high support, growth mindset, and innate joy of working with students.
Essential Duties:
The teacher assistant's responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following tasks:
•Classroom assistance for teachers, including preparing the learning environment and materials for daily activities, maintaining daily classroom schedule, working with individual students, based on needs, and providing small group instruction and activities under the direction of the classroom teacher.
•Collaborate with the classroom teacher in the planning and implementation of some activities.
•Assist in the supervision of the classroom and daily activities.
•Assist the classroom teacher in enforcing school and classroom rules, monitor students' behavior, and help maintain discipline in the classroom; reconcile minor student conflicts, and maintain a positive learning environment.
•Ensure the well-being and safety of children at all times.
•Supervise students during all activities including bathroom breaks, lunch duty, recess duty, nap time, after-care activities, field trips and special events.
•Assist the classroom teacher in maintaining a neat and organized classroom.
•Perform other duties assigned by the classroom teacher and/or lower school director.
Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position: 20 hours per week (2 full days and 1/2 a day)
Direct Supervisor: Lower School Director
Requirements
- Five years of experience as a Teacher Assistant in a Lower School
- Ability to create a class environment in which students feel safe
- Strong sense of personal accountability and passion for raising the bar with students and challenging them to learn at a high level
- Preferred candidate will have a current U.S. work visa, if applicable
- Native or fluent English speaker
Benefits
The hourly salary for this position will range between $23 and $26, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
