Join our client, a leading IT services and consulting company, as a Field Technician . Our client specializes in providing top-tier telecom network infrastructure solutions and is looking for a dedicated professional to enhance their team.

As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the end-to-end connectivity of optical fiber paths, utilizing various testing apparatuses from OSP handoff to customer equipment by fusion splicing.

You will perform complete fiber characterization (including Fusion Machine, OTDR, CD / PMD, Optical Insertion Loss measurements, and fiber end-face validation) and conduct basic site surveys.

The Day-to-Day :

• Maintain project schedules and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Prepare fiber cables for splicing according to industry and customer standards in various splice housings, using different cable types (e.

g., ribbon fiber, loose tube, armored / non-armored, 900 micron MIC cables / pigtails).

• Splice various types of fiber cables of different fiber counts.
• Conduct fiber characterization tests using OTDR, CD / PMD, power meter / laser source, and fiber end-face testing with industry-standard equipment.
• Troubleshoot fiber network issues using OTDR, VFL, and other instruments.
• Perform splicing or re-splicing of new and problematic fiber strands using industry-standard fusion splicers.
• Clean fiber end faces using multiple methods.
• Analyze vendor fiber networks based on test data.
• Prepare and manage testing packages.
• Redline project documentation, including fiber paths and demarcation points.
• Provide test reports as required by vendor specifications.
• Manage project field documentation and interface with vendors to resolve fiber path issues.
• Conduct site surveys to validate vendor infrastructure deliverables and identify potential issues such as fiber type, points of failure, diversity requirements, and support infrastructure (racks, fiber protection, grounding, etc.).

Qualifications :

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Telecom Network Infrastructure environment
• Proficient in using generic office software.
• Familiarity with EXFO Toolbox for fiber test data analysis or similar software applications.
• Understanding of vendor contractual deliverables.
• Minimum of two years of experience in project management or project support, directing field resources and assets.
• Additional language skills are a definite asset.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, for effective participation in team meetings and fiber issue resolution.

Pay Rate / Shifts :

• $33.00 per hour.
• Monday to Friday, 9 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM.
• Visit two to three sites per day.
