As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Help Desk Lead to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Data Buoy Center (NDBC).

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities of the Help Desk Lead will include, but are not limited to:

• Support effective and efficient office automation and NOAA business applications for the NDBC workforce.
• Operate a full-time, comprehensive IT support desk, with coverage Monday through Friday from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm Central time, to support NDBC’s federal and contractor staff.
• Mentor other Help Desk Technicians
• Develop the schedule for the personnel that will provide coverage for the core Helpdesk hours.
• Maintain a low count for the Tier 1 tickets assigned to the Helpdesk by monitoring the ticket queue and ensuring that all tickets are being completed in a timely manner.
• Reassign tickets as needed to maintain a balanced workload for all of the Help Desk technicians.
• Work in coordination with the Windows Administrators to reduce the number of open vulnerabilities on systems at NDBC.

Qualifications

Requirements of the Help Desk Lead:

• Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and a relevant NIST Standard IT security certification (or equivalent)
• 3 years experience working in a Help Desk environment supporting MS Windows desktops, Red Hat Linux desktops, MS Office applications, basic network troubleshooting skills.
• Experience supporting network printing, applying software patches, and use/support of full desk encryption.
• Experience with the use and implementation of Help Desk management tools.
• Personnel must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (Tier II) clearance.
