Masters Degree in Education
Five years of successful experience in the field of special education
Knowledge of specialized support services in special education

Skills And ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Director of Special Education- Out of District will report to the Senior Administrators of Special Education and responsible to monitor all special education service delivery in their professional learning community including the following:
Coordinate all special education services and delivery of services in accordance with the child's IEP in their assigned professional learning community
Oversee and direct all support personnel in their assigned professional learning community including chairpersons, speech and language therapists, COTA and OTR, hearing and vision specialists, physical therapists, PTA, and adaptive physical education specialists
Monitor caseloads and referrals to assure equity and even distribution. Reassign and modify support personnel within the community to ensure equity
Work with the team chairpersons to assure that all evaluations are completed within prescribed DESE timelines, and reports are available to all team members in a timely fashion.
Work to assure three year evaluations and yearly IEPs are completed as prescribed
Be available to explain to parents programs and support services available to students and parents
Work to ensure all monthly billing and service delivery procedures are completed in accordance with federal reimbursement guidelines. Assure all necessary documents for PCG are completed
Act as another liaison for the schools between public agencies, hospitals, parents, and community groups
Provide direction regarding conflict resolution and rejected IEPs
Participate in supervisory meetings to assure accountability and compliance
Work to assure all monthly billing and service delivery procedures are completed in accordance with federal reimbursement guidelines. Assure all necessary documents for PCG are completed
Act as another liaison for the schools between public agencies, hospitals, parents, and community groups
Provide direction regarding conflict resolution and rejected IEPs
Participate in supervisory meetings to assure accountability and compliance
Assist senior administrator in evaluation of personnel in accordance with contractual requirements
Work with appropriate supervisors in setting up special events and Program Continue
Provide supervision and direction of those teachers working with a specialized population including all teachers working with autistic students, medically fragile students and cognitively challenged students throughout the system
Review all IEPs with teachers to assure that services are being provided in accordance with the aspects of the IEP
Work with teachers to coordinate all support in the treatment of the child including consultation, direct services, and programming for families (i.e. North Shore Consortium, Home Training, Nurses, etc.) Acts as a liasion between schools and families to assure services are being provided in accordance with the child's IEP plan
Work with the teachers to set up alternative assessment strategies to deal with MCAS requirements and secure specialized technology to aide these children
Work with the teachers to develop strategies to work toward inclusion of these studentws when possible in the general education environment with non-disabled students
Work to assure that all technology is available for students in the classroom
Participate as a core evaluation team member to develop the educational plan and support services deisgned to help children in the least restrictive environment
Work with the team to provide appropriate programs for returning students from out of district placements
Work to assure that the regular education curriculum is integrated into all aspects of our specialized classrooms and that there is evidence that the curriculum is modified to teach students with special needs.
REPORTS TO: Administrator of Special Education EVALUATION: Administrator of Special Education Terms Of EmploymentWORK YEAR: Twelve Month Position HOURS: Regular hours: 7:45 – 3:45 M-Th;7:45-2:45 Friday and school vacation days Summer hours: 7:45-2:45 M-Th; 7:45-12:45 Friday SALARY: $113,550 Effective July 1, 2024- $117,524 BENEFITS: Per Agreement between the School Committee, City of Lynn and the Lynn School Administrators Association An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment physical, including a drug test, National fingerprint-based Criminal Background Check (NCBC) and Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI).
