Basic Function

LyondellBasell is searching for a Machinist for our High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) manufacturing facility located in Matagorda, TX, 13 miles south of Bay City, TX.

The Machinist is tasked to apply their expertise daily in support of a rotating equipment repair shop located at the site.

The primary duties of this position are to operate machine shop equipment (details below) as well as participate in the disassembly, inspection, repair, and assembly of rotating equipment.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate machine shop equipment including but not limited to engine lathes, milling machines, vertical turret lathes, horizontal boring mills, dynamic balance machine.
• Disassemble, inspect, develop repair scope, perform requisite machining / repairs, and assemble rotating equipment.
• Execute scheduled work by : Reviewing assigned job scopes for completeness and understanding. Acquiring all necessary parts, tools, and instructions prior to starting the job to maximize work efficiency.

Following all necessary safety procedures and practices. Ensuring work is completed per company and industry standards. Updating supervisor on job progress and any problems encountered in completing the defined scope of work.

Completing all documentation using a computerized maintenance management system.

Min. Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a machinist; in addition, prefer at least one of the following : Journeyman Machinist from a recognized apprenticeship program Other documented machinist qualification
• The candidate must have an advanced working knowledge of : Operation of mentioned machine shop equipment Precision measuring tools
• The candidate should have a working knowledge of rotating equipment
• The individual must possess effective organizational and communication (verbal & written) skills and must be able to interface with all personnel on-site in a positive, clear, and collaborative manner.
• The successful candidate must possess independent decision-making skills, a high degree of ownership, and be able to work autonomously.
• Must possess good housekeeping standards.
• Must be willing and able to provide overtime coverage and work plant call-outs.
• Must be willing and able to stand and walk for extended periods of time as well as frequently bend, reach, and lift.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work in a confined space and from elevated platforms.
• Able to wear appropriate protective equipment.
• Must successfully pass pre-employment screening process.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (. citizen, . Permanent Resident).
