Job DescriptionConstruction Estimator PositionDescription:Our firm is growing and adding new and exciting projects at an increasing rate. We have been in business for 15 years and have an extensive resume covering multifamily and commercial projects.
Overview:The Estimator is responsible for analyzing project plans, specifications, proposals, and other documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for bidding projects. Interfacing with subcontractors, project managers, all support teams and client relations to achieve precise and accurate estimates. Great attention to detail and excellent communication skills are a must.
Job Responsibilities:Essential Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Prepares commercial and multifamily job estimates
  • Prepares subcontractor scopes of work for projects
  • Prepares pre-construction and project schedules
  • Prepare bid proposals for owner presentation; including the cost breakdown, clarifications, scope, and exclusions
  • Processes and distribute all R.F.I’s for estimating and job addendums
  • Maintain and update subcontractor and supplier information
  • Prepare plans and specifications for subcontractors and suppliers
  • Prepares takeoffs
  • Provides value engineering services
  • Prepare post bid buyouts
  • Consults with engineers, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
  • Responsible for the project handoff process between Estimating and the Project Manager
  • Maintain cost database that includes material pricing, historical and overall project cost
  • Maintain positive client/subcontractor relationships
Skills Required:
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize work assignments
  • Multifamily and Commercial construction experience
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Leadership and motivational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel throughout all areas of construction sites during all phases of a project
  • Available to work extended hours as required by project schedulers or urgent circumstances
Computer skills:
  • Advance level and working knowledge in Bluebeam
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Advance level in Microsoft Project
Educational and Professional Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in construction related discipline is desired
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry performing responsibilities equivalent to those listed above
