The Role:
We are currently looking for a permanent hire to provide support to the Dealing Team within the Chicago based Fund Management team and also support our equity portfolio management team in the FMA role. The role is a demanding one in providing day to day support of dealing activities and equity team , requiring strong communication, coordination within the Front Office / Fund Managers and cooperation with multiple business areas within the organisation including settlements.
The position supports, 'first line' activities are actioned by the desk in the DDA capacity or by the equity portfolio manager in the FMA role. The candidate will be working with the London DDA's where appropriate, and all query resolution in respect of the dealing desk and processes within, as well as providing regular reporting for the Trade Execution Review Forums, Dealing Management Committee statistics as and when required, supporting local Regulatory Reporting and Audit or Due Diligence activities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Dealing Desk Support;
  • Help field all trade enquiries to and from the US based dealers and prioritise all dealing desk responses.
  • Undertake ad hoc tasks as and when required (e.g. Review of execution rates with the dealers annually, complete any counterparty breach forms, confirmation of novation process and external stakeholder management / dealing relationships)
  • Represent M&G Dealers and Fixed Income Dealing Team specifically at Operational or System related meetings as and when required
  • Ensure that all local controls in respect of Oversight / Monitoring are carried out as required with a good understanding of relevant RCSA's across the Front Office.
  • Work with Dealing desk and FOO to regularly review and update all Dealing Procedures and associated control documents /
  • regular discussions with the Settlements / DMT teams to resolve any issues / workflow enhancements
  • Escalation and reporting of dealing errors where applicable to local C&A representatives.
  • Work with the FI dealing desk and internal teams to improve processes, address required system enhancements, implement positive change where necessary and update procedures or "how too guides" accordingly.
  • Desk related system knowledge and involvement with related upgrades or UAT, (ideally including OMS providers such as Aladdin, vendors like SurveilanceGrid and Tradeweb / MarketAxess).
Fund Manager Support;
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in trade booking and managing the overall blotter.
  • Maintain accuracy throughout the trade life-cycle process and oversee cash balances.
  • Contribute to automation and tooling initiatives to minimize risk and address gaps.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and portfolio managers to provide risk and attribution reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and fiduciary responsibilities through diligent measures
Reporting/Oversight;
  • Provision to the DMC / TERF's of trading related information requirements and analysis
  • Supporting the maintenance and evolution of Monitoring work across all asset classes
  • Support of generation of Hit Ratio%'s / Counterparty Review Reporting both for quarterly / bi-annual counterparty meetings alongside RTS 28 report production, (e.g. Top 5 providers).
Requirements and Ideal Experience Include:
  • Knowledge of asset classes (Fixed Income and Derivatives, ideally some exposure to Equities).
  • A good understanding of investment products and the asset management industry
  • Bright, enthusiastic and proactive. Due to the nature of the role, a self-starter is essential
  • Highly numerate, logical and analytical approach with an interest in dealing or fund management
  • Able to work effectively under pressure, to tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with good communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to liaise effectively with personnel at all levels
  • Experience on a Fixed Income dealing desk or support related function a plus
  • Experience with Equity portfolios or support related function a plus
  • Knowledge of settlement processes and systems / breaks resolution a plus
  • Previous experience or interest in execution quality / trading oversight and related MI production a plus
  • Organised and able to prioritise appropriately with some previous exposure to SEC / CFTC regulations a plus
  • Strong IT skills / interest with experience of using Bloomberg, Aladdin or other Order management / EMS systems very useful.
  • Experience of managing complicated processes with a focus on risk reduction and controls
