M3 Placement & Partnership is Hiring a Finance Manager Near Syracuse, NY

Position: Finance Manager

Location: Syracuse, NY (hybrid)

Compensation: $120,000-130,000

Overview: Our client, a quality focused and mission driven healthcare organization located in Syracuse, NY is hiring for a Finance Manager to join their team. The Finance Manager will work closely with executive and department leadership to provide compelling financial data and recommendations to ensure sound financial decision making across the organization. They will be responsible for the preparation, review, interpretation, and analysis of the financial activities and functions of the organization along with development and oversight of activities related to implementing and maintaining the integrity of the organization's financial reporting system. The Finance Manager will be responsible for the annual budget process and educating end users on interpretation and effective utilization of financial data to ensure continuation of fiscal responsibility.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills and prior management / supervisory experience. Public accounting and healthcare backgrounds preferred. Demonstrated experience effectively communicating financial information to internal or external stakeholders is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides accounting skills to the development, review, and analysis of all financial aspects.
  • Oversees and directs the budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, and long-range forecasting activities for the organization.
  • Evaluates the organization’s financial position and issues periodic reports on the organization’s financial stability, liquidity and growth.
  • Works with the leadership team on profit and loss projections and reviews recommendations that have financial impact on the organization.
  • Analyzes system and procedures and recommends methods for improving internal financial efficiencies in such areas as facility expenditures, cash flow, and resource utilization.
  • Directs and coordinates the establishment of operating and capital budgets.
  • Analyzes, consolidates and directs all cost accounting procedures including physician compensation plans together with other statistical and routine reports in coordination with management staff.
  • Reviews, interprets and analyzes financial data to ensure group and departmental budgetary performance and internal controls.
  • Prepares various regular reports used by management and board in reviewing organization performance.
  • Participates in and supports revenue cycle initiatives and activities.
  • Works with leadership team in coordinating and managing billing and collections processes. Acts as principal liaison for billing and collections agencies. Ensures reimbursement is maximized.
  • Reviews and ensures payments are in line with contracts.
  • Effectively directs staff in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.
  • Demonstrates good organizational skills in the routine accumulation of operational information and reports to Executive Director in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Performs staff management functions related to employee selection, on-boarding/orientation, coaching/development, staffing, work assignments, performance management and goal alignment as guided by hospital policy and procedures and collective bargaining unit agreement (when applicable).
  • Interacts with management staff in developing strategic plans, including organization planning component and ensures organizational problems are resolved.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates on committees as requested or required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Must have five plus years of accounting experience; public accounting experience highly preferred.
  • Excel proficiency, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new technology required.
  • Prior management or supervisory experience required.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, along with the ability to make decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional judgement required.
  • Must be deadline driven, able to work under pressure and juggle multiple competing priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work in a calm, professional manner and effectively communicate with team members and department management.
