About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Communications Officer to foster a climate of understanding and support for its educational mission within the community. The successful candidate will serve as the primary liaison between the school system and the public, organizing community meetings, setting annual public information objectives, and supervising the production and distribution of news releases. This role also involves crisis communication planning, managing the District's website and social media, and coordinating bond election communications. The Chief Communications Officer will maintain open lines of communication with community organizations, conduct public opinion surveys, and ensure that employees are informed and engaged in District issues. Additionally, the role includes advising the Superintendent and other administrators on public relations matters, attending Board meetings, and serving as the District's spokesperson.Applicants for the Chief Communications Officer position at the company must have a minimum of five years of experience in public relations, preferably in an educational, public service, or industrial setting. Required skills include proficiency in office computer applications, English language usage, and a commitment to racial equity. The ability to speak a second language is also desired. The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with accreditation in Public Relations or a Master's degree being preferred. The role requires the ability to work under supervision with attention to detail, and to carry out both oral and written instructions effectively. A criminal justice fingerprint clearance is mandatory for this position. The Chief Communications Officer will be evaluated annually and reports directly to the Superintendent.
