Construction Defect Litigation Legal Assistant
Macdonald & Cody, LLP is an insurance defense litigation firm seeking a highly motivated, energetic, organized and dedicated full-time Construction Defect Litigation Legal Assistant to join our firm.
Responsibilities include:
Preparation of cross-complaints
Arranging service of cross-complaints on all named cross-defendants inclusive of tracking responsive pleading deadlines
Preparation of requests for entry of default
Preparation and maintenance of homeowner matrices
Preparation and maintenance of scope of work matrices
Preparation of discovery response shells
Preparation of case management orders/special master orders
Preparation of tender letters
Preparation of settlement demand letters
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience working on general contractor/developer construction defect cases required inclusive of preparation and service of cross-complaints, tracking status of service of cross-complaints along with responsive pleading deadlines as to each named cross-defendant, preparing and maintaining homeowner and scope of work matrices, preparing tender letters and settlement demands. Some trial experience is preferred.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules and filing procedures required.
Knowledge of electronic service providers required.
Proficiency regarding California SB800/Calderon (Davis-Stirling Act) processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to comfortably communicate on the phone and via email with clients, carriers, counsel, mediators, special masters, and unrepresented parties.
Strong organization and time management skills coupled with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and ensure timely completion/meeting of deadlines.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and instruction.
Proficient in use of Outlook, Word, Adobe, and Excel.

The hourly range in California for this role is $28.50 - $38.50 and represents the firm's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidates experience, qualifications and location.
