ASSISTANT DESIGNER
Madhappy is a Los Angeles-based clothing brand made for a community of optimists, born in 2017. Madhappy uses apparel, events, and experimental retail spaces - including its permanent flagship in West Hollywood - to explore a personal expression as a means to an improved state of mind. Its own seasonal stores - with past and present locations including New York City (Soho), Aspen, Miami, East Hampton, and Tokyo - are each designed to reflect their site, while still sharing the brand's DNA. The brand currently produces a selection of ever-evolving, evergreen classic styles, seasonally available collections and collaborations. Madhappy supports research and awareness in mental health through The Madhappy Foundation (a 501c(3) non-profit) and writes Local Optimist, a print magazine. Each to celebrate us as works-in-progress, and the personal and collective expression that is a part of that.
About the job
We are looking to hire a full-time Assistant Designer for Madhappy.
In this position, you will be responsible for furthering Madhappy's brand vision by generating ideas and products that reflect our core values. This role will be working within our design team, but work closely with product development & production team. This role will report directly to our Senior Director of Design.
You must be based in or willing to move to Los Angeles to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities
•Work across all product categories (Apparel, Accessories and more) to assist the design team
•Create and update tech packs, organize files, and contribute to the constant improvement and streamlining of Madhappy's processes
•Assist the design team with vintage and competitor apparel research
•Help in selecting seasonal color palettes, color matching and approving lab dips
•Assist team in keeping design studio and vintage archive organized
About you
Qualifications
•Bachelor or Associate Degree in apparel design
•Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel and other applicable programs
•Comprehensive knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color/print usage, graphics, embellishment layouts, and trims
•Highly creative with a strong understanding of Madhappy brand aesthetic with in-depth knowledge of design techniques, and product development

•Proactive and driven to try new things, develop skills, and push the company's mission forward
