Assistant Fund Controller

$175k-$195k base 40% bonus

A premier middle-market asset management firm specializing in private equity and credit investments, with over 20 years of history and $10B in AUM, seeks an Assistant Controller to join its growing team. The firm is known for its dynamic environment and commitment to growth, offering ample opportunities for professional development.

This is a new finance division that will support its flagship fund and interact heavily with investors both internally and externally.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Controller and collaborate closely with the CFO, Credit COO, and various teams including accounting, tax, compliance, and investor relations. The role involves significant interaction with Private Equity and Credit products (funds/CLOs/SMAs) and may also include exposure to management companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and perform month/quarter-end NAV reconciliation, including investor allocations, management/incentive fee calculations, and expense accruals.
  • Manage the capital call/distribution process and maintain capital call credit lines.
  • Coordinate accounting aspects of new fund launches, including involvement in fund structuring.
  • Collaborate with fund administrators to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Maintain data integrity across systems and reports.
  • Oversee daily PNL and attribution reporting for hedge funds and separately managed accounts.
  • Support audit processes, including financial statement reviews and preparation of audit schedules.
  • Update and maintain procedure manuals, and identify and implement process improvements.
  • Work with deal teams on new investments and realizations.
  • Coordinate with the tax director on estimated tax payments, withholding computations, and tax distributions.

Requirements:

6 years of experience within a national public accounting firm (must have asset management clients) or hands-on fund reporting experience within private equity

  • Experience with valuations, IRR calculations, and investor allocations are a plus
  • CPA and or CFA are preferred but not required
