Medical Scribe

A Medical Scribe provides quality patient care by assisting the physician with efficiency and productivity, rooming, and various clinical specific tasks as needed. This position reports to the Clinic Supervisor/Regional Director of Clinic Operations, is full time, and is located in West Allis and Mequon, WI

Responsibilities

• Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to:
  • Patient medical history and physical exam
  • Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants
  • Patient education and explanation of risks and benefits
  • Physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient and family members for self-care and follow-up
• Prepare referral letters as directed by physician.
• Perform dictation, faxing, phone calls and other clerical tasks.
• Escort patients to exam room as scheduled and complete brief history through appropriate documentation.
• Stays current on electronic health records (EHR) changes and ensures appropriate and effective documentation in patient records.
• Ensures excellent and timely care for patients – manages phone calls and messages efficiently, checks EHR and email regularly.
• Organizes and prepares exam rooms and maintains a clean, safe, and well stocked environment.
• Provides basic patient education.
• Schedules appointments as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Medical Scribe certification and/or currently a pre-med student.
• Excellent customer service, computer skills and attention to detail.
• Clinic work experience is preferred.

• Strong data entry skills and ability to work with computer applications
• Organized with a strong attention to detail in a fast paced environment
• Competent and comfortable communicating with patients, peers, and physicians

• Ability to work well both independently and with co-workers in a team
