JOB TITLE: Software Architect
DEPARTMENT: Development Department
REPORTS TO: Chief Technology Officer
REVISION DATE: 5/1/2021
SUMMARY: As a Software Architect they will design and develop software systems and applications. They may create software tailored to a clients’ specific needs or create products geared for consumers. They act as high-level decision makers in the process, determining everything from design choices to technical standards, such as platforms and coding standards
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Lead teams of software developers.
  • Deep knowledge of entire system.
  • Contribute to code in any component.
  • Make decisions on product direction and internals based on deep subject matter knowledge.
  • Set product direction
  • Ownership over large components.
  • Shape coding methodologies and best practices.
  • Think both strategically and tactically, keeping in mind both technical goals and company goals.
  • Plan out features across many versions of the product.
  • Participate in and support initiatives outside of main area of responsibility.
  • Manage communication across multiple teams and projects.
  • Provide technical leadership for projects.
  • Build strong relationships in their own team and across the company.
  • Understand multiple points of view and drives a process to conclusions in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises several employees within the Development department(s).
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent required
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent preferred
  • 7 Plus Years as a software developer preferred
  • Has experience leading teams of software developers.
  • Has the capability to acquire deep understanding of large systems.
  • Can make decisions on product direction and internals based on deep subject matter knowledge.
  • Can think both strategically and tactically, keeping in mind both technical goals and company goals.
  • Able to form strong relationships in their own team and across the company.
  • Understands multiple points of view and drives a process to conclusions in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Respected and respectful decision maker.
  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and Programming.
  • Knowledge of the Programming Design Patterns.
  • Up-to-date with current programming standards and best practices.
  • Strong fundamentals of one or more of the required programming languages (JavaScript/C#/C ).
  • Comfortable working with required technologies.
  • Knowledge of parallel processing and multi-threading.
  • Experience working with Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code.
  • Experience with Source Control Software.
  • Disciplined coding style with an eye toward maintainability, scalability, and aesthetics of the code base.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and of Quality Assurance techniques using source control repositories, debugging and testing experience.
  • Experience working on fast-paced agile delivery teams.
