Position Summary

The Cafe Attendant is responsible for assisting in all areas of customer service. The Cafe Attendant is involved in most aspects of day to day operations, such as inventory, sales, cash handling, sales reconciliation, line service, etc., while maintaining a high level of customer service at all times; and must be cross-trained in areas related to cashier, food handling server, and general and deliver the youth center programs and activities as assigned by the Facility Director.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, such as coffee and tea; Operate espresso machines and other equipment to make drinks according to established recipes.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area; including frequent cleaning in lounge area and Patio.
• Responsible for re-stocking and maintain inventory; ordering of food/supplies and necessary products. Scheduling picks ups/deliveries with vendors. Stock shelves and ensure products are properly displayed.
• Accept payments and issue receipts, refunds, credit, or change due to customers accurately as necessary.
• Follow food safety guidelines and handle food products safely.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operation of the Café.
• Maintain all personnel, members and other information work related CONFIDENTIAL.
• Record statistics of assigned program activities and submit them to the Program Director on a daily basis.
• Perform any duties as needed to maintain the safety and the ongoing flow of the youth center.
• Maintains constant surveillance of members/guests in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of members and guests in the event of emergency.
• Report all accidents, behavior reports and facility safety concerns to the Facilities Director, immediately.
• Must understand the philosophy, Program Standards, Protecting the Mission Child Safety policies of The Salvation Army.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Must possess a valid food handlers permit, California
• Must have a valid California Driver's License
• Must have an up to date CPR for the Professional.
• Ability to record information to the culinary production sheets.
• Knowledge of industry standards regarding sanitation

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Driving Test and clean MVR check
• If working in vicinity of children a criminal background, check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
• Work is assigned orally and in written form; individual must be able to interpret menus and recipes and be able to follow directions.
