Main Salvation Army is Hiring a Cook and Pantry Lead Near Cheyenne, WY

Job Title: Cook and Pantry Lead

FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exempt 
Reports to: Corps Officers

Rate of Pay: $15/hour

Closing Date:  6/29/2024

Benefits: Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

  • Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)
  • Vacation benefit – 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro-rated for part time hours.)
  • Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service) with at least 21 hours worked per week. 

Function

Be responsible for the daily preparation of meals for the Community Meal Program. These Meals are hot meals from September – May and Sandwich Lunch Meals from June – August. Be responsible for the daily coordination of meal preparation with other Staff, volunteers, and employees. Be responsible for planning a menu and coordinating with the Corps Officers for the ordering of food and other items from the Wyoming Food Bank and local grocery stores. Be responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen, walk-ins, pantry and bathroom. Be responsible for the supervision and if necessary, completion of the daily washing of all dishes, cooking utensils, surfaces, walk-ins, organization of pantry and kitchen and other facilities. Be responsible for all daily reporting for food pounds and intake of donations. Be responsible for all Wellsky/computer input and statistics documentation for Pantry and Kitchen output.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

  1. Assist the Corps Officer(s) in smoothly and effectively operating the Corps Kitchen/Pantry and other applicable business and administrative details related to the efficient operation of the Kitchen/Pantry.
  2. Oversee Social Service requests, hygiene, meals, and preparation of food bags and boxes. 
  3. Assist with all daily statistical and other record keeping requirements from partner and state agencies. This includes daily tracking and record keeping for all requested statistics by The Salvation Army. Appropriately gather and store all confidential information.
  4. Daily computer inputting of all statistics collected.
  5. Coordinate all food and gifts-in-kind donations into the daily meal service where possible.
  6. Work with schools, businesses, churches, service clubs, and individuals with donated items such as food and other donations. Including giving donation receipts.
  7. Help to gather all respective data collections and submit all SA-required reports, statistics, events, and other SA requirements.
  8. Must comply with all local City, County and State Health Department requirements for Food Service. This includes any needed permits or licenses.
  9. Work cooperatively and assist with all other SA Potential daily oversite of all partner agency volunteers (AARP, Easter seals, Etc.) and Salvation Army volunteers
  10. Be organized and able to handle a multitude of task.
  11. Maintain a valid Driver’s
  12. If chosen to drive, complete the Decision Driving Safety Test before driving for The Salvation Army and annually recertify as required.
  13. If chosen to drive, must meet certification by and participation in The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety Program (Salvation Army Fleet Safety Policy dictates that an employee may not obtain more than two [2] moving violations or accidents within any 12 months; see The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Policy).
  14. Initially deal with issues as they arise and refer all serious or potentially severe problems to the Corps Officers.
  15. Be a mandated reporter and take all necessary PTM courses and any other required child or adult safety lessons.
  16. Potentially may be called during an emergency disaster event to help facilitate cooking or organizational needs.
  17. Other duties as assigned by corps officers.

Qualification and Education Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or GED, with two years of related work experience and one year of supervisory experience. A combination of training and experience will be considered.
