Maine Savings Federal Credit Union has an exciting opportunity for a Controller position. This position will expand our existing Finance team.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated finance professional who will support the Chief Financial Officer in managing the financial affairs of the credit union. As a strategic partner, the Controller will be responsible for oversight and accuracy of the credit union’s accounting records, preparation of internal and external financial records, maintenance of a comprehensive set of internal controls, and working with auditors and regulators. The Controller will have a fundamental role in the Credit Union’s financial analysis, including budget preparation, Asset-Liability Management, and identifying trends of interest. This position will also work on special projects to help create, change, and implement the strategic objectives of the organization.
A successful candidate should possess the following skills and knowledge:
- 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in a banking or credit union environment
- Thorough knowledge of financial institution accounting concepts, practices, and financial reporting
- Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Thorough understanding of Current Expected Credit Loss methodologies is required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Diligent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Must demonstrate creativity, flexible foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems and in dealing with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists
- High proficiency with Microsoft office suite
