Under the general direction of the Director of Pharmacy Clinical Services, or their designee, the Clinical Pharmacist reviews drug therapies, formulates recommendations based on current literature and established standards of practice, directly supervises supportive personnel, serves as a resource for drug information; participates and/or directly supervises the preparation and distribution of medications, and serves as a member of the healthcare team with the prescriber and direct caregiver. This position will be primarily responsible for the provision of comprehensive pharmacy services for adult and pediatric patients in a variety of critical care units, with some support for other patient populations and pharmacy operations as needed. Coverage includes medical intensive care, surgical intensive care, neurointensive care, cardiac intensive care, cardiothoracic intensive care and pediatric intensive care units.
This position requires a high degree of interaction with the interdisciplinary team. The clinical pharmacist should be prepared to discuss complex clinical cases with physicians, advance practice providers, nurses, and other relevant staff involved to assist in the development of care plans for the patient. You will also be responsible for responding to adult medical codes, including adult code strokes, where you may be asked to simultaneously prepare drug therapies and field drug information.
The pharmacist in this position will also be responsible for supporting and facilitating quality and safety initiatives, training pharmacy learners; developing policies, procedures and guidelines using evidence based medicine and national quality indicators; and engaging in evidence based research.
This position is a rotating days and night coverage. The night shift will include a 7-day on-7 day off rotation during a specified block.
