Job Description

Title: Student Support Services AssistantDivision: School-wideReports To: Assistant Principal of Student Support (oversight by CEO and Principal)Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Year-round)Hourly: $21.00-$24.00 $12,000 Temporary Cost of Living Allowance and MWA BenefitsPosition SummaryThe role of the Student Support Services Assistant is to provide administrative support to the Assistant Principal of student support as well as the dean of students role. The Student Support Services Assistant contacts parents, collects written statements from students and staff, enters data in PowerSchool and other systems to track student discipline and support progress, files returned suspension forms, organizes documents and files in school drives, and provides data to the deans, AP of student support, Principal, CEO, and COO upon requests. May also assist with preparing students for restorative conferences. Professional orientation, strong communication skills (verbally and in writing), organization, adept in utilizing technological tools, flexibility, and problem-solving are keys to success in the role. Primary ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Support

  • Support the Assistant Principal of Student Support in the preparation and dissemination of school discipline forms and communication with parents/guardians.
  • Take written statements from students and staff related to school infractions.
  • Make sure all paper and electronic forms are up-to-date and organized in the dean's offices, along with pens, pencils, erasers, and any materials needed for restorative conferences.
  • Participate in meetings, professional development, and in-service training programs as assigned.
Student Support/Outreach
  • Identify student activities, such as student clubs or athletics, that you can get involved in to build positive relationships with students.
  • Share questions/concerns about students with a dean, social worker, or AP of Student Support in order to proactively flag any larger concern or seek additional support for the student.
  • Track and utilize data to share the successes and challenges of groups of students and individual students with leadership and targeted communication to families about improvements.
General
  • Attend any school-wide staff meetings and training and/or assigned training.
  • Communicate proactively regarding any sporadic absences and seek supervisor approval for any planned absences outside of established vacation windows.
  • Adhere to and model any expectations for staff conduct as outlined in the Staff Handbook.
  • Follow all compliance requirements and norms, such as mandated reporting obligations.

  • Participate in the school community – attending school competitions, performances, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to adhere to the following:
  • Frequently walk across the middle and upper school campus, or climb stairs.
  • Participate in campus supervision duty each week – Monday through Friday frequency may vary based on each semester’s supervision assignment.
  • Lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand on a stool as necessary, and sit for long periods.

  • Minimum two (2) years working in an administrative position with similar responsibilities
  • Experience working with students and families from historically underserved communities
  • Creativity in event and activity planning
  • Consistency and timeliness in attendance and task management

  • Demonstrate an understanding of technology and literacy learning platforms (PowerSchool, Canvas, Blackboard, Google Drive and Calendar, Slack, etc.)

Education
  • Associate’s Degree required
Licenses or Certificates Needed
  • Employment eligibility will include fingerprints, tuberculosis, and other employment clearance
Preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred
