About the Role: 

As a Cloud Database Engineer with Malbaie, your primary responsibilities include managing and optimizing Oracle and PostgreSQL databases on-premises and within AWS cloud environments. You will oversee database installations, configurations, and upgrades, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Your role involves automating routine tasks through Linux shell scripting, maintaining high availability and disaster recovery setups, and performing regular backups and restorations. Additionally, you will utilize AWS services such as EC2, RDS, DMS, and S3 to support cloud database operations while collaborating with development teams through GitHub and tracking projects and issues using JIRA. Ensuring database security, tuning performance, and troubleshooting complex issues are key aspects of your duties.

In this role, responsibilities will include:

Database Management:

• Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
• Monitor database performance and implement optimization strategies.
• Ensure data integrity and security.

Cloud Administration:

• Manage and maintain databases hosted on AWS platforms, including EC2, RDS, DMS, and S3.
• Perform migrations of databases to the cloud using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Configure and manage database backup and recovery procedures in AWS.

Automation and Scripting:

• Develop and maintain Linux shell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
• Implement infrastructure as code practices for database deployments and maintenance.

Collaboration and Project Management:

• Collaborate with development teams to support database-related tasks and projects.
• Use GitHub for version control and code collaboration.
• Track project progress and issues using JIRA, ensuring timely resolution and delivery.

Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting:

• Conduct performance tuning of database instances and queries.
• Diagnose and resolve complex database issues promptly to minimize downtime.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement and maintain database security policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Required Skills/Experience:

Experience:

• 5 years of experience in Oracle RDBMS administration and development.
• 5 years of experience in PostgreSQL RDBMS administration and development.
• 5 years of experience managing databases on-premises and in AWS cloud environments.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in AWS services: EC2, RDS, DMS, S3.
• Strong knowledge of Linux OS and Linux shell programming.
• Experience with GitHub for version control.
• Familiarity with JIRA for project management and issue tracking.
• Skilled in designing and developing diagrams, including ERD, Cloud Architecture, Network, Data Flow, and others.
