For the defined business unit, the mission of the General Manager includes to participate to the company's overall strategy and to implement it into the business unit; to establish and to improve the company’s management system and organizational structure; to preside over the daily operations and developments of the business unit in order to achieve objectives.

To achieve its objectives, the G.M has to direct and supervise all activities of the B.U operations, including but not limited to overall financial performance, barley purchase, production, quality, distribution, sales, finance, human resources and administration.

Essential duties and responsibilities: 

• Ensure safety and people management.
• In coherence with MEG global strategy, define and deploy the BU strategy to catch business opportunities.
• Seeks ways of growing and diversifying the Company’s business.
• Deploy locally the strategy of Malteurop and apply the guidelines defined by the Group functional leaders.
• Evaluates overall performance of executives in the BU against specified objectives.
• Manage the regional performance, responsible for delivering the P&L and for ensuring the alignment of his team to deliver the financial objectives in the region.
• Increase Sales results and especially into local market.
• Meets established sales and margin targets, engineering goals and production targets.
• Coordinate the activity of BU production facilities.
• Assigns responsibilities to each executive under his control for meeting established goals and taking action when necessary to ensure that the desired outcomes are achieved.
• Generate with his team continuous improvement initiatives to feed each functional areas.
• Presents for approval to the Group Executive Committee all major expenditures for capital equipment, materials, in line with the validation rules procedure.
• Ensure that the organization is in place to deliver the best customer service (quality and quantity).
• Ensure local industry and partners’ relations to stay informed about the market, major activities of competitors, as well as major economic, industrial and technological developments that may impact the business.
• Legal Representative of the company in the country/region.
• Develop the talent across the organization and be responsible of the climate of the BU
• Ensure that CSR is well embedded in the BU in line with Malteurop CSR strategy.

Qualifications and experience required:

• Master degree in Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing processes and/or degree in Business Administration
• 15 to 10 years’ minimum of experience in Operation or General Management in similar environment (agri-food industry)
• Significant project management
• Profit-cost centre management
• Legal and compliance responsibilities as company’s representative
• Bilingual: fluent in English; French or Spanish a plus
