Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Baker to join our team. The Baker will be responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods, including pastries, bread, and desserts, in accordance with recipes and quality standards.
We are looking for someone reliable, accountable, self-motivated. Able to listen to, understand and follow directions and ask questions appropriately. Possess good communication and problem-solving skills. Able to make and execute a plan to maximize company resources.
Ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of scratch baking experience in a professional setting such as a bakery or pastry shop utilizing the following skills:
-Precisely follow directions according to established recipes-Reading, understanding, converting, adapting, weighing and scaling recipes in both imperial and metric measurements
-An experienced palate to taste dishes to ensure proper flavor, seasoning and texture-Excellent dexterity
-Piping skills including depositing and decorating
-Bread experience including mixing and fermenting different types of dough using yeast and sourdough starter, as well as dough dividing and shaping skills including rolls, loaves, baguettes and more
-Cookies, cakes, choux, custards, jams, ganache, gelatin, icings, creams, buttercreams and more
- Proficiency in food preparation techniques and baking methods
- Knowledge of culinary techniques and principles
- Experience in handling food in a kitchen environment
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment including mixers, ovens, and knives
- Understanding of food safety practices and procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and creativity in pastry decoration
Duties:
- Prepare and bake a wide range of baked goods such as bread, cakes, cookies, macarons, and pastries
- Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings, and glazes
- Ensure all products are baked and presented according to company standards
- Monitor inventory levels of baking ingredients and supplies
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and baking area
- Follow food safety procedures and guidelines at all times
-Lifting up to 60 lbs, bending, twisting etc.
