We are seeking a Construction Superintendent-Commercial jobs only, to join our team! You will oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and construction implementation.

Our company performs commercial construction management, design build, interior remodels, new construction-3 stories and under and metal building warehouse construction projects. We work primarily in Manatee, Sarasota and Hillsborough counties.

Minimum 5 years commercial construction superintendent experience and HS diploma required. Must have metal building experience and be able to pass government level 2 background check. Responsible for field construction and supervision of commercial construction site, subcontractor coordination, material procurement, and the safety and security of the job site.

Responsible for all aspects of construction and inspection from permit to Certificate of Occupancy. Reports to Project Manager. Manages all subcontractors on site and their employees under foreman's direction. Supervises our carpentry employees when on site. Also directly supervises and trains one to four temp labor employees. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing all work to meet construction schedule. Some minor demo, carpentry and drywall punch out work may be required to be performed by superintendent when necessary.

Must be able to read construction plans and schedules, calculate numbers using basic algebra and geometry, and be able to use a transit for layout. Must be familiar with permitting and inspection procedures, OSHA 1926 rules and have OSHA 10hr card and CPR certification (or take class upon hire).

Must have excellent organizational and planning skills and be able to communicate with all levels of management, inspectors, engineers, architects, and owners.

Must have knowledge of how to use email, the internet, Microsoft Excel & Word. Must be able to use an iPad for Builder Trend scheduling program & iPhone for daily business.

Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervises all field operations for maximum production in coordination with the Project Manager while maintaining high standards of workmanship that adhere to original plans and specifications.
  • Coordinates all Subcontractors activities including communicating the planning and sequence of activities. Reviews all tasks for job hazard analysis.
  • Coordinates material procurement including a conscientious attitude toward controlling all job costs.
  • Updates Project Manager on job progress on a weekly basis. Posts daily progress and photos to Builder Trend log.
  • Responsible for knowledge of the governmental process including permits, inspections, FL building codes, and local laws.
  • Acts as a safety officer for the jobsite including having a basic knowledge of OSHA 1926 rules, monitoring them for all trades, and giving weekly safety meetings. Have OSHA 10hr card and CPR/First aid certification (or take courses upon hire).
  • Acts as a troubleshooter for the jobsite including being involved and creative in the scheduling process to keep the job on schedule. Negotiate with subcontractors to receive reasonable change order costs.
  • Attends all pre-construction and construction meetings giving current progress input and issues with management, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Completes necessary required paperwork in a timely manner. Keeps change orders up to date and notes on "As Built" plan.
  • Responsible for using a transit and level to oversee the layout of the project.
  • Responsible for supervision of carpentry staff when on site, and hiring, firing, and supervision of temporary labor.
  • Responsible for transporting miscellaneous materials.
  • Responsible for jobsite hurricane preparation and shut down.
  • Attends all company quarterly safety meetings off site or by zoom.
  • Acts as a courteous representative for the company with clients & owners. Interfaces with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, city and county officials.
