JOB SUMMARY:

As the Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our distribution center. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in warehousing, transportation, and inventory controls in a unionized environment. Experience in the beverage distribution industry is a plus. This role requires strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of distribution processes, and a proven track record in managing teams and ensuring operational excellence. Moreover, experience in driving a culture of safety, security and compliance is a critical component of success in this role.

Specific areas of oversight include:

  • Lead and manage the distribution center team to achieve operational goals and meet performance metrics.
  • Oversee all aspects of warehouse and transportation operations, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on best practices.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with union representatives, ensuring positive labor relations and successful negotiations.
  • Conduct and comply with beverage partner audits and requirements.
  • Drive a culture of safety and security, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and state/federal/company policies to create a safe working environment.
  • Implement and enhance security protocols to safeguard the distribution center's assets and inventory.
  • Prepare annual budgets, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions in order to meet financial objectives of the warehouse and delivery function.
  • Onboard and train new employees in the department; assign and manage work; track team performance against KPIs; establish and manage development plans and complete performance appraisals.
  • Ensure availability of adequate and appropriate staffing in the department; coordinate personnel solutions for employee PTO (planned and unplanned).

Requirements

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 year of operations, distribution center and/or warehouse/delivery leadership experience
  • Experience in a unionized environment with strong knowledge of union negotiations.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in using warehouse management systems and other relevant software
  • Preference for candidates with experience in the beverage distribution industry

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to ascend and descend stairs and traverse small spaces, remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, move about to access materials and equipment to perform job duties, operate basic tools, communicate with customers and co-workers, and perform repetitive motions.

Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Computer, Telephone, Copy Machine and Forklifts
  • Ability to use Encompass and Microsoft Applications

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CDL Class B – Preferred
  • DOT Medical Card - Preferred
  • Forklift Certification - Preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
