We have a new opportunity for a Sample Services Manager at our Lebanon, Ohio Development Center. The Sample Services Manager oversees and provides direction to Sample Services team to ensure product quality, timeliness, and safety standards are met. Which includes management of sample lab, sample pilot plant, logistics, shipping & receiving, R&D quality and project coordination personnel. Interacts with R&D teams, Operations, Shipping and Receiving, Maintenance, Management, and internal and external Auditors/Vendors and others as necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize, prioritize, and schedule the daily activities of the Sample Services Department. Develop and maintain daily schedules to ensure efficient operation of the department.
  • Management of personnel and department activities related to: shipping & receiving, logistics, R&D quality lab, sample lab & pilot plant, stock management and project coordination.
  • Oversee recruiting, training, and overall performance of department staff, as well as performance evaluations for those staff.
  • Ensure smooth operations in the department including compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Be the point person of communication concerning project timelines, delays etc. Communication to stakeholders on updates and delays etc.
  • Identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency. Lead the planning and implementation of improvement projects along with the team of direct report. Participate and help drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all inventory is managed on a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) basis to maintain freshness and quality.
  • Comply with all food safety and quality standards to ensure product safety.
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations for shipping and handling.
  • Enforce safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Lead by example, following and promoting best practices. Recognize and reward compliance and excellence within the team.
  • Develop and delivery training for staff, offer ongoing support and mentorship to ensure the team is equipped to perform and grow in their roles.
  • Be flexible and willing to take on additional tasks as needed to support the department and organization.
  • Every employee is expected to participate in education/training about Mane’s environmental commitments and then actively apply this to job-related and job-specific roles and responsibilities.
  • Management will support and facilitate education, training, and action within their teams to effectively and adequately implement environmental policies, procedures and practices, as well as promote continual improvement consistent with environmental objectives.

  • Understanding of safe laboratory practices & follow protocol independently.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma/some college, bachelor’s degree preferred or combination of education and experience.
  • 2-5 years’ demonstrated experience leading a team in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to manage diverse teams and foster collaborative work culture. Track record of achieving team goals and driving high performing team.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in the flavor industry, providing leadership, knowledgeable in shipping, logistics, sample production, quality control a plus.
  • Experience in using and being a power user of various software systems such as MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, and other types of process software as well project management and formulation systems.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bending, crawling, stooping, standing, vision, lifting, walking
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with others, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
