We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sr. EHS & Compliance Manager to join our team in Lebanon, OH. This role willprovide leadership and expertise in areas of environmental, occupational health and safety (EHS), risk management, and workers compensation/loss control management for MINC. Assist the business to maintain compliance with all applicable EHS requirements. Monitor regulatory developments related to EHS and advise the appropriate stakeholders on potential business impacts. As a subject matter expert, support representing Mane with government agencies, industry associations, and/or other organizations for negotiating legislation, regulations, and/or guidelines that impact our business strategy. Facilitate actions and design programs to eliminate worker injuries and associated costs, improve pollution prevention, and minimize waste. Offer safety leadership to all departments within MINC and give oversight in the areas of EHS.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Develop corporate guidelines to assist in implementation and monitor comprehensive safety processes and management practices to meet all applicable safety rules and company policy requirements company wide. Responsibilities to include but not limited to ergonomics, machine guarding, hazard communication, powered industrial vehicles, electrical safety, fire protection and emergency preparedness, and driver safety.
  • Work with facilities company-wide to assure training of all associates to maintain full compliance and eliminate safety and environmental violations and costs including, but not limited to, training on general safety and environmental awareness; specific programs (e.g. confined space, personal protective equipment (PPE), powered industrial vehicles, defensive driving, storm water, spill response); enforcement provisions including the potential for fines, forced shutdowns, and imprisonment; equipment operation; and general safety practices.
  • Identify and interpret regulatory standards that impact operational exposures and business activities and guide needed plans to ensure compliance.
  • Lead development of corporate guidelines assist in implementation and monitor comprehensive environmental processes and management practices to meet all applicable environmental rules and company policy requirements. Responsibilities to include but not limited to wastewater discharge, solid waste disposal, hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal, air emissions, spill prevention control and countermeasures, storm water national pollutant discharge elimination system, and ozone depleting substances.
  • Apprise management of emerging issues, current status with respect to those issues, and the resources necessary to comply.
  • Conduct periodic EHS inspections and behavioral observations.
  • Directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures company wide. In addition, facilitate the sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and successfully demonstrated practices within the Corporation.
  • Provide input in identifying and tracking appropriate KPIs and assessing site EHS performance company wide.
  • Implement initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards by creating functional strategies and specific objectives for safety focus groups and develops procedures/policies to support the safety infrastructure.
  • Periodically audit facilities for EHS compliance as directed by management.
  • Communicate with business unit management and associates and provide relevant reports and analyses to ensure appropriate decision making on EHS issues. Conduct analyses on special project assignments.
  • Disseminate new developments in EHS technologies (e.g., automation, pollution controls, waste minimization).
  • Review capital expenditure requests for EHS compliance.
  • Liaise, as directed by management, with government agencies during the development of new Federal, State/Provincial, and Local requirements to affect a favorable outcome.
  • Perform EHS due diligence activities related to any acquisitions or divestures.
  • Communicate with Federal, State/Provincial, and Local authorities regarding compliance issues and negotiate means of compliance. Assist management during civil or criminal investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to hazardous waste.
  • Develop and implement hazardous waste procedures, emergency plans, and training.
  • Ensure regular inspections of hazardous waste storage areas.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to personnel involved in the handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Maintain records of all hazardous waste management activities, including waste inventories and characterizations, waste profiles, disposal manifests, and regulatory reports.
  • Schedule hazardous waste disposals as needed. Sign waste manifest and Land Disposal Restriction paperwork as needed.
  • Complete annual RCRA training and tri-annual DOT training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Manage EHS staff supporting MINC locations.

  • Demonstrate teamwork within the department and across all departments and facilities

  • Develop and maintain the appropriate vendor relations
  • Develop and maintain the appropriate Regulatory Agency (domestic and international) relations
  • Management will support and facilitate education, training and action within their teams to effectively and adequately implement environmental policies, procedures and practices, as well as promote continual improvement consistent with environmental objectives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • BS degree in Engineering, Life Science, Safety, or Risk Management from an accredited college or university. Certification as a Certified Safety Professional, a CHMM and OSHA 30 Hour is a plus.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience within the food manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution environment.

  • Willingness and ability to travel via airplane and drive automobile. Expected travel is up to 25% of work time.
