Manhattan College is Hiring an Assistant Project Manager for Design and Construction Near Bronx, NY

Reports to: Vice President of Facilities
Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000
Position Summary:
The Assistant Project Manager for Design and Construction provides leadership on strategic and operational matters, has excellent planning and assessment skills, successful experience leading change, and can work effectively within a collegial, participatory culture. Directly reporting to the Vice President of Facilities, the individual is responsible for the formal coordination, implementation, execution, reporting, and completion and oversees the operational and budgetary activities of the following Facilities projects: Physical Plant and Grounds, Custodial Operations, Campus Planning and Improvements, and Environmental Health and Safety. The individual will provide highly administrative services to advance the mission of the institution and to foster collaboration across all College divisions and departments. The Assistant Project Manager will provide critical facilities insight, support, and leadership to effectively address the short- and long-term priorities of the institution's facilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • The individual will develop processes and procedures for facilities-related projects and will be the subject matter expert for the institution on monitoring the need to refine and improve project management at the College.
  • Monitors and evaluates activities on assigned projects by tracking progress, managing project documentation, preparing status reports and project close out reports.
  • Provides technical review and support of multiple capital construction projects. Provides leadership and supervision to facilities staff, including technicians, maintenance workers, and custodial teams.
  • Fosters a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development. Manages planning, budgeting, design, consultant and contractor selection, pre-construction bidding, construction management, quality assurance, and project turnover for operations and maintenance.
  • Manages a workforce of approximately 30-40 staff and outside contractors for routine services and major repairs.
  • Collaborates with the Vice President of Facilities in developing project scope, supports the management of all project development and planning factors, and develops maintenance and operations upon competition.
  • Monitors workflow and work products, results, methods, and procedures; serves as the primary contact to the internal and external community on facilities management, capital planning, and construction.
  • Drafts "Request for Proposals" (RFPs) in consultation with the procurement office.
  • Supervises and coordinates the design and permit process for contractors.
  • Fosters collaboration and communication with other campus departments, including academic units, administrative offices, and student organizations.
  • Participates in campus committees and meetings to address facilities-related issues and initiatives.
  • Provides consistent, timely, and reliable communication between all project stakeholders.
  • Continuously seeks to stay current in emerging areas in the field by monitoring relevant publications and participating in professional organizations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Construction or Facilities Management or other related field
  • Valid Driver's License
  • OSHA 300 certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Three (3) years of experience in facilities project management
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience
