Position Summary

The Associate Site Director, Academics is a key leadership role at Mansfield Hall. You will be responsible for managing and guiding our academic team to ensure the highest standards of academic support and intervention. This role involves overseeing three Directors of Academics and up to three coaches, ensuring seamless integration of academic skill development into our programming and coaching. Your leadership will drive the fidelity of our coaching model and the success of our students.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and supervise the Academic Directors, setting performance standards, and providing regular supervision and feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and other senior leaders to align academic initiatives with programmatic goals.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, inclusive, and adaptive community for students to achieve their goals.
  • Attend weekly Community and Director-Level Meetings, serving on various committees and providing guidance to staff.
  • Ensure all academic staff are adequately trained and supported in their duties.
  • Oversee initial training and ongoing professional development for staff.
  • Provide project management for new and ongoing initiatives as directed by the Executive Director.
  • Participate in the On-Call Rotation and lead cross-site functional teams/committees.
  • Monitor and adhere to budgetary parameters in performing job duties.
  • Engage in recruitment, admission, and marketing activities, representing the academic department in organizational planning and public engagements.

Academic Program Management:

  • Facilitate weekly meetings to evaluate the effectiveness of current academic support plans and interventions.
  • Utilize and implement tracking tools for the student goal-setting process.
  • Ensure accurate daily reporting of student progress.
  • Engage with parents and educational partners to maintain strong collaborative relationships.
  • Support the academic team in understanding students’ needs and integrating executive functioning systems.
  • Develop partnerships with area colleges to enhance student opportunities and collaborations.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to student enrollment and ensure a strong roster of private tutors and referring professionals.

Student Support and Advocacy:

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 3-6 students, focusing on academic development and vocational opportunities.
  • Provide backup academic case management when necessary.
  • Develop strategies to improve students' executive functioning, self-advocacy, and independent living skills.
  • Conduct weekly sessions with students to support motivation, growth, and goal setting.
  • Build relationships with families and referral sources, providing timely updates on student progress.

Program Policy Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Implement policies and procedures that enhance academic services and manage critical incidents.
  • Ensure staff follow and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure cohesive student services and programmatic goals.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for incident planning and documentation, aligned with our strengths-based and restorative approach.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, academic counseling, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of experience in leadership roles within higher education or related settings.
  • Proven track record of effective team management and strategic program development.
  • Deep understanding of the challenges and support needs of diverse learners with co-occurring mental health challenges.

  • Skills in academic assessment and case supervision in educational settings.
  • Excellent organizational and strategic planning abilities.
  • Advanced technological and communication skills.

  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in educational settings.
  • Ability to innovate and implement best practices in academic services.
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and program evaluation.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Work primarily from a seated position with some standing and walking.
  • Potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials and computer work.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Manage deadlines, peak workloads, and changing priorities.
  • Work requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for computer use.

Work Environment

  • Internal: Climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise levels.
  • External: Limited local travel; occasional classroom environments.
  • No known environmental hazards.
