Job DescriptionOur client, a major manufacturer and distributor of Chemicals and Fertilizer, is seeking their Instrumentation & Engineering Supervisor to join their team in Pasadena, Texas.
He / she will be responsible for supporting the execution of daily maintenance work, project work and plant turnarounds (outages) through planning, estimating, and scheduling activities. This person will utilize the plant’s CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) as the primary tool to plan, estimate, resource, and schedule work orders to facilitate the efficient and effective completion of requested work. Other primary duties include, but not limited to: Ensuring that complete and accurate records are kept of all maintenance activities, including updating records and files from MOCs (Management of Change) and Capital work i.e. (Construction, Major and Minor) adhering, updating and completing PSM requirements, updating of storeroom stock levels, assisting in the creation of PM/PdM (Preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) routines, and the tracking of relevant maintenance metrics (KPI’s).
  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Minimum of six to eight years maintenance experience in the Refining, Petrochemical, or Chemical Processing Industries. Minimum of (3) three years’ experience direct supervision of hourly employees. Coordinates and supervises all assigned maintenance work including projects and turnarounds and arranges for materials and services for scheduled/unscheduled work, in a safe, efficient, environmentally compliant, cost-effective manner within the operating plan. Assures maintenance and project work complies with all applicable safety, engineering, safe work practices, and Company procedures and specifications
  • ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to: Manager of Maintenance
Supervises: Hourly employees (Instrument/Electrical Techs)
Works with: Maintenance Craftsmen, Operators, Supervisors, Engineers, and Managers; Also interfaces with Purchasing and Stores
personnel, Contractors, Suppliers, and Vendors.
  • SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  • Participate in safety and environmental initiatives – contributing to overall employee and community safety while ensuring compliance of state and federal regulations.
  • Communicating effectively with all leadership levels to resolve scheduling, priorities, and other areas of concern between Crafts, Operations, Maintenance and other departments.
  • Analyzing facilities, conducting root cause failure analyses, initiating/defining scopes of inspections and repairs, preparing procedures, creating programs for predictive maintenance monitoring of all instrument and electrical equipment and systems, directing predictive maintenance monitoring, and documenting equipment history in order to improve plant equipment life.
  • Serves as advisor to Operations and Maintenance, assisting with the operation, performance monitoring and repair of instrument and electrical equipment.
  • Reviewing, preparing, and executing maintenance work orders to ensure work is completed in a safe, environmentally compliant, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Reviewing work prior to start and ensuring materials, resources, information and tools are on hand to achieve high levels of craft productivity.
  • Initiating requisitions for required materials, tools and contractor services, as required.
  • Exhibiting proficiency in planning and organizing daily maintenance, emergency and project work.
  • Adhering to PSM requirements and full compliance. Annually reviewing PSM work by updating records, PM and PdM WOs, Interlock testing and record keeping, storeroom spare parts and Tabware records.
  • Coordinating with and making recommendations to department supervision and Scheduler regarding projected maintenance needs and requirements to facilitate scheduling contractor staffing and resource utilization.
  • Working collaboratively with Scheduler to re-distribute staffing, as needed for emergency work requests.
  • Training, mentoring and motivating hourly Instrument/Electrical Techs to promote/develop a High Performing Organization.
  • Sharing knowledge, skills and expertise with others for safe and efficient job performance.
  • Effectively managing employee relations matters (including discipline) within established policies and programs.
  • Performing individual and/or team investigations on near misses, incidents or injuries that occur within the plant, ensuring causes and corrective actions are identified and assuring resulting action items are completed.
  • Identifying issues, seeking assistance, and implementing improved reliability programs to reduce unplanned downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Developing or modifying maintenance or safety procedures individually or as part of a team. Leading and coordinating efforts for ARC flash training and maintaining PPE requirements for ARC flash training and other I&E training compliance.
  • Sharing in maintaining Maintenance Department budget.
  • Reviewing invoice documents for accuracy prior to final approval. Reviewing applicable e-payables contractor invoiced labor prior to final approval.
Location: Pasadena, Texas
Compensation: 115k potential Bonus and all Benefits 5 days on site.
