The primary purpose of the Charge of Building (COB) is to ensure scheduled staff are performing the activities and assigned duties for the units.
s). The Charge of Building will round the building ensuring doors are secure and round to each of the units throughout the shift.
The charge of Building will direct and assign staff. They will have the authority to recommend disciplinary action and send staff home pending investigation and / or disciplinary action.
SHIFTS : The shift are 12 hours and there is a partner that will run opposite of each other. 7am to 7pm. Every other weekend.
We are searching for 4 wonderful staff to take on these leadership roles.
EDUCATION :
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS IS HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, GED
EXPERIENCE :
Prefer management / leadership experience, Health care experience
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :
Good problem solver with abilities to make independent judgements utilizing initiative, discretion, and policies
Demonstrates leadership ability.
Ability to prioritize duties.
Customer service oriented with knowledge of successful customer service techniques.
Ability to complete assigned duties within a constantly changing environment.
Must possess effective management and supervisory skills.
Willingness to assist with resident cares
Able to direct staff in a respectful manner
RESPONSIBLITITES
Resident Care Functions
Directs and oversees the home health staff to ensure the assigned cares and duties are completed and reflect the current policies and procedures of the facility.
Perform direct care related activities as the need arises.
Participates in the development of policies and procedures pertaining to resident care.
Perform frequent rounds of the units and building to ensure that all service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable standards.
Assist in coordinating services with home health aides to ensure that continuity of the resident’s services and assigned unit duties are completed.
Participate in the development, maintenance and implementation of the facilities QI / QA program.
Complete and / or initiate investigation, accident / incident reports and assist with abuse / neglect reporting to specific agencies as needed.
Acts as a liaison between resident, family and care team to ensure new physician orders, treatments, or service plan changes are accurately carried out and documented.
Initiate and resolve follow-up and problem issues as needed.
Care Function
Meet all new admissions and inquire how they are doing and if they need anything
Assure completion of all necessary documentation and services.
Participate in the development and ongoing review of the service plan for each resident to ensure needs are addressed.
Assist in the monitoring and data collection of ill residents as needed.
Ensure and participate in triage calls.
Direct communication with the Triage Nurse and DON as needed.
Committee Functions
Serve on, participate in and attend various committees and meetings of the facility to which you are assigned.
Personnel Functions
Assists with the coordination of staffing patterns and productive nursing hours as delegated by the Director of Nursing.
Responsible for holding staff accountable for correctly following policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and nursing job descriptions.
Participate by giving input for employee evaluations in a timely manner as directed.
Assists with disciplinary actions as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
Coordinates and conducts routine staff updates as assigned by DON
Staff Development
Assist the director of nursing in identifying ongoing educational and training needs for staff.
Environment, Safety and Sanitation
Follow up on accident and incident reports if assigned by D.O.N.
Observes staff for proper safety techniques and infection control policies and procedures.
Ensure the environment on the nursing unit is clean, safe, clutter-free and homelike.
Supervision of meal service to ensure quality of life with regards to the dining experience.
Physical Requirements
Ability to endure prolonged walking, sitting, standing, use of pulling, bending, and stooping movements.
Ability to adapt to changes in daily work hour and schedule.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
