As part of our commitment to student health and well-being, we are seeking a dedicated School Cafeteria Manager to join our team.We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Cook Manager to join our K-12 food service team. The ideal candidate will assist in managing kitchen operations, cooking nutritious meals, ensuring efficient service, and maintaining excellent customer relations within a school environment. This role requires a passion for culinary arts, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting.Key Responsibilities: *Not Limited to*Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious and appealing meals for K-12 students, following standardized recipes and dietary guidelines.Assist the Cook Manager in overseeing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and kitchen sanitation.Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and school district policies.Supervise kitchen staff, including assigning duties, providing training, and monitoring performance to maintain high standards of food quality and service.Assume responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Cook Manager, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to procedures.Assist in planning menus, taking into consideration nutritional requirements, student preferences, and budgetary constraints.Collaborate with school administrators to coordinate meal service times and special events.Maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies, place orders as needed, and ensure proper storage and rotation of perishable items.Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and special dietary requests with professionalism and courtesy.Support efforts to promote nutrition education and wellness initiatives among students and staff.Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall efficiency of the food service program.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; culinary arts training or certification is preferred.Proven experience in food preparation and kitchen management, preferably in a school or institutional setting.Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, including HACCP guidelines.Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.Understanding of nutritional requirements for children and experience in menu planning is advantageous.Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend throughout the shift.Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.Stamina to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.Working Conditions:This position typically operates in a school kitchen environment where loud noises, varying temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels are common.Exposure to kitchen equipment, including sharp knives, steamers, ovens, and cleaning chemicals.Potential for extended periods of standing and repetitive motion.EEO StatementMarblehead Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer.
