Marcum LLP is currently looking for Assurance Staff to join our team in Providence, RI. You will be responsible for performing engagement field work under the engagement leader.

Responsibilities :

• Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, compliance errors and irregularities, fraud, or noncompliance with laws and regulations.
• Prepare detailed audit reports in accordance with relevant standards.
• Inspect eligibility, procurement and reporting records and compliancesystems for efficiency and effectiveness,
• Communicate effectively with fellow staff and engagement supervisor / manager to ensure recording of transactions and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Examine and evaluate compliance systems.
• Perform research when necessary.
• Take complete ownership of specific aspects of the engagement and see them through to completion.

Qualifications :

• BA / BS / MS in Accounting. Recent grads welcome.
• 3 months-2 years of experience; experience with affordable housing agencies or property management companies is preferred
• Basic technology skills, with proficiency in Excel, Word required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
• Effective time management and analytical abilities.
• Ability to travel to client sites, within and / or outside of the Boston metro area, with a general focus on the North Shore and north of Boston.

Some overnight travel may be required.
