Job Summary
Provide administrative support, performs clerical and customer service functions, as well as non-technical duties in the clinic.
Use knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 codes to accurately code and bill for office visits, out patient procedures, in patient visits, and in patient procedures.

Job Requirements
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor's degree preferred
Licenses: AAPC or AHIMA certification preferred
Two years of college preferred
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Detailed oriented
Requires knowledge of medical billing and collection practices and procedures for commercial insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid.
Experience with billing process; claims - electronic and paper, authorizations, payment posting, CPT coding, benefit verification, EOB's and ERA's.
Self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks.
Good communication skills with patients and insurance companies.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Essential Functions
Prepares statistical reports and performs clerical functions such as preparing and sending outgoing mail, distributing incoming mail, maintaining filing systems, entering data and maintaining databases, typing documents and correspondence, photocopying, scanning, and faxing.
Handles information requests, including reviewing files and records, answering inquiries, and responding to incoming work requests.
Process insurance claims for private and employer insurance reimbursement
Process insurance claims for Medicare and Medicaid insurance reimbursement.
Enter charges accurately and expeditiously to ensure proper records handling and fast payment responses.
Process and follow up on payer denials, consulting with the patient and /or insurance provider as needed.
Discuss outstanding payment amounts with patients regarding balance owed by reviewing explanation of benefits.
Identify and report payor trends and issues to effect timely resolution.
Follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear.
