About The PositionAs a Site Supervisor, you will promote the program's goal of encouraging the children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, that will in turn, prepare them for future success in school. In your role as a Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading, supporting, and supervising a Birth to Five or Head Start teaching team, by overseeing the planning and daily operations of an infant/toddler and/or preschool classroom where assigned.

We Require
  • One year of professional experience teaching in a licensed childcare or pre-kindergarten setting
  • Associate degree in early childhood education, child development, or equivalent degree with 18 credits in early childhood education and/or child development OR
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or another equivalent post-secondary degree with 18 credits in early childhood education, child development or infant/toddler development

Job Contributions
  • Provides leadership, guidance, training, modeling, support, and supervision to classroom Teachers and Teacher Assistants
  • Ensures all site staff respect and support diverse cultural, educational, socio-economic, and family backgrounds, including those with disabilities and special needs, and treats each child and parent as an individual
  • Manages the daily operations of a Maricopa County Head Start/Early Head Start classroom, including facilities maintenance, required data collection, inputting, reporting, and teaching
  • Monitors and oversees all activities within the classroom to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment, including always maintaining supervision of children
  • Assumes the role of the lead contact with community partner sites, including communication and planning that occurs throughout the school year
  • Understands Early Education Division and Maricopa County policies and supports the philosophy of Maricopa County Human Services Department and Early Education Division in the implementation of Performance Standards as identified in Division goals and Program policies and procedures
  • Assists with recruitment and enrollment of children and families into the Maricopa County Head Start Zero – Five Program
  • Assures all child screenings, observations, and formal developmental assessments are completed in accordance with Head Start Performance Standard timelines and accurate records are maintained; that findings are recorded and information is used in developing classroom lesson plans; and that parents are involved in the development of an Education Plan based on assessment results
  • Plans and conducts transition activities with parents, school personnel, and children to transition children into and out of the program, in accordance with the Head Start/Early Head Start Transition Plan
  • Carries out authorized emergency and safety procedures and administers first aid and/or CPR in the classroom as needed
Working Conditions
  • One year of experience teaching in a Head Start or other early childhood education/family services program
  • Must complete background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to successfully secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must be able to pass a medical exam that includes screening for TB, as required by Federal and State regulations, to be free of communicable disease, and must have received the following vaccinations: (MMR) Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Tetanus if not current, to assure no significant risk exists to the health or safety of others
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
  • Certification in CPR, first aid, and food handlers must be obtained within six weeks of hire
  • Ability to read, write and speak Spanish may be required for some positions
  • Work is routinely performed in an office environment, which may require long periods of sitting, reading, and typing
  • Requires travel to program sites throughout Maricopa County
  • The position requires travel to and from various county, client, and contractor locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business
