Marine Well Containment Company is Hiring a Senior Field Superintendent Near Houston, TX

Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) was founded after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon well control incident to provide the response capabilities needed if a similar event occurs in the future. MWCC is a Limited Liability Corporation that is owned by ten (10) of the most active drillers in the Gulf of Mexico.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Field Superintendent will have direct functional responsibility for the delivery of shore base operations, maintenance activities, general services and overall safety. The role will enforce the safe execution of work management principles on daily activities which are associated with MWCC equipment. Some travel will be required for effective implementation and execution of job duties.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides oversight and direction to Kiewit Offshore Services (KOS) employees and work activities at the MCV Shore Base in Ingleside, TX.
  • Owns the MCV work execution schedule.
  • Collaborates with the MWCC Maintenance Manager to ensure that work is performed efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensures that work is conducted safely, efficiently and effectively during both normal operations and should MWCC become activated to manage an offshore well control incident.
  • Responsible for enforcing safe work practices and business delivery requirements at the MWCC shore bases.
  • Responsible for collaboration with Maintenance and Logistics teams to establish and schedule maintenance execution and support activities for all MWCC equipment as prescribed by the MWCC Maintenance function.
  • Responsible for acquiring a thorough understanding of all operations (including production and capping stack operations) procedures and ensuring that they are kept current.
  • Ensure all shore base operations are planned, executed, and audited with the highest degree of safety, integrity and excellence.
  • Ensure essential shore base contractor’s capability and readiness via scheduled and unscheduled assessments, and other appropriate methods.
  • Support development and implementation of MWCC’s Operations Excellence System and maintain strong ties to HSE organization to facilitate daily shore base activities.
  • Responsible for investing time in individual learning and development to enhance own leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate with all MWCC functional teams in preparation of any new or revised Integrity Critical Operating procedures.
  • In collaboration with the MWCC Training function, ensure the training, development and readiness of the contract operating staff (Reservists) necessary to operate the MWCC equipment in the event of emergency response.
  • Analyze and evaluate maintenance procedures and standard operating procedures, to improve the maintenance delivery and maintainability, reliability and efficient operation of the equipment.
  • Ensure that MWCC maintenance delivery activities are compliant with all internal integrity requirements.
  • Provide the information required for updating all Key Performance Indicators and setting/achieving/surpassing monthly departmental Goals and Objectives.
  • Perform other similar or related duties as assigned such as, trouble-shooting problems, ensuring good housekeeping, environment protection, etc.
  • Responsible for mentoring and training Field Superintendents and Maintenance Superintendents so that they can effectively function as the Senior Field Superintendent’s delegate in their absence.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all contract resources used for work execution are appropriate in number and capable of performing their intended work.
  • Collaborate with the Shore Base Contract Leadership to ensure effective work management activities and challenge contract resource consumption to ensure efficient and effective work execution.
  • Closely collaborating with the MWCC Maintenance Manager to ensure cost is controlled and closely monitored to ensure that maintenance work is within budget, highly efficient and effective.
    • Demonstrate effective leadership and commitment to operational excellence and readiness to respond to a loss of well containment.
  • During activation, supports the Deployment team in delivery assurance of equipment called out, training of contract operators and daily operation of the MCV’s.
  • The position will provide MCV system handover quality assurance.
  • Responsible for safe and efficient performance of contract staff assigned to MWCC shore bases.
  • Responsible for ensuring that work is risk assessed and managed per OES 2-1.
  • Ensure all shore base operations are planned, executed, and audited with the highest degree of safety, integrity and excellence.
  • Upon activation and once the Modular Capture Vessel(s) depart for extended flowback mode, this position will transition offshore onboard the Modular Capture Vessel and to work a rotational basis as the MWCC Senior Field Superintendent who will provide “on vessel” leadership during capture operations in conjunction with the vessel owner and responsible party.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent Oil and Gas Production experience.
  • Minimum of 20 years of leadership/supervisory experience in oil and gas operations.
  • Having a current OIM license is an advantage.
  • Proficient knowledge of Bureau of Safety Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) regulatory requirements for producing facilities.
  • Ability to work on a rotating schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off with a possible extended schedule during emergency events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not limited to)

Functional Role

Activation Role (MCV Delivery Assurance Lead – Night Shift)

In the event of MWCC activation, the Senior Field Superintendent at the MCV Shore Base will fulfill the role of MCV Delivery Assurance Lead. Below are responsibility highlights for this position related to and during the timeframe MWCC is activated to respond to a well control incident in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

  • Work as a member of the MWCC Emergency Response Organization on an as needed basis in the event of activation, or preparations/drills for same, in response to a well control incident and perform job duties commensurate with your assigned role.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of producing operations regulatory systems, recommended practices, related manuals & procedures.
  • Experience in marine operations/systems maintenance.
  • FPSO experience.
  • Must have previous experience as a production operator on an offshore platform and must have demonstrated knowledge of managing oil and gas process system operations, as well as production system troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Emergency Management experience.
  • Visibly demonstrate a commitment to safety and operational excellence through values of safety, integrity and excellence.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of maintenance management systems and maintenance practices.
  • Must have a sound working knowledge of risk- based maintenance systems and performance and condition monitoring techniques and analysis.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in collaborating across organizational boundaries to improve organization delivery.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and can quickly learn other speciality software.
  • Understands marine operations and subsea equipment installation and remote operation of same.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system (Human Machine Interface / Distributed Control System).
  • Mechanical knowledge of Power Generation, Centrifugal Pump Operations and general maintenance of physical plant.
  • Demonstrated operations assurance experience.
  • Experience as an Incident Management Team Member and/or Working knowledge of Incident Command System framework.

This includes but not limited to the physical abilities to transfer shore to ship, ship to ship, helicopter to ship while using approved means such as bridges and personnel transfer devices. Frequent ascending/descending stairs or ladders safely, is required along with working below decks in restricted spaces.
